Audi SQ7 receives ABT treatment – 520 hp, 970 Nm

Where there is plenty, there will always be demand for more. Such is the case with high performance models. As standard, the Audi SQ7 is endowed with 435 hp and 900 Nm of torque from its 4.0 litre, twin-turbocharged V8 diesel engine. The ABT model here takes the output figures further, pushing them to 520 hp and 970 Nm of torque.

The revised output gains achieved from the twin-turbocharged V8 diesel engine help the ABT Audi SQ7 attain a 0-100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds, a 0.2 second improvement over the standard SQ7’s time of 4.8 seconds. Despite the increased output figures, CO2 emissions are unchanged, according to ABT.

A range of 22-inch ABT wheels are available for the SQ7, in three designs. The diesel performance SUV can be lowered by 20 mm from its standard ride height thanks to the ABT level control, whilst retaining the availability of standard ride height.

On the outside, the ABT treatment sees the SQ7 receive a wide-body kit, which includes a front bumper, front fender extensions, rear bumper skirt extensions, rear wing, front fender inserts and door strip attachments. The front bumper lip, door strip attachments, and front grille frame are made of carbon-fibre, as are the tailpipe trim pieces.

The SQ7’s interior also gets some ABT flavour, with lashings of carbon-fibre trim found on interior pieces such as on the steering wheel rim, centre console, seat base housings, ABT-branded gear lever top, and door panel trim pieces.

When the Q7 was conceived, it was for a very specific purpose ie. to carry 6 people in comfort. It seems VW group think these group of people who happen to comprise some deep pocket customers hence the ABT was born to cater for these specific customers & Audi seems to have made the right choice. It’s all about marketing to the targeted market. Well done Audi.
