Carlos Ghosn will remain as CEO at Renault – report

Carlos Ghosn will remain as chairman and CEO of Renault, despite being removed from positions in both Nissan and Mitsubishi. The French carmaker’s board came to the decision after an internal investigation revealed no wrongdoing or illegal activity with regards to his pay packages.

According to Autocar UK and The Guardian, the board reviewed payments made to Ghosn between 2015 and 2018, with all of them said to be “in compliance with applicable law” as well as the French corporate governance code. Currently, day-to-day operations of the company are being managed by COO Thierry Bollore.

In November, Ghosn was questioned and subsequently arrested in Japan over suspected under-reporting of his corporate salary by several hundreds of millions of yen. He was later removed from his position as chairman at both Nissan and Mitsubishi, creating uncertainty about the future of the Alliance.

Further tension was created when Renault, along with the stakeholding French government, claimed that Nissan did not provide the firm with access to details of accusations against Ghosn. Renault added that it had not yet received any information on Ghosn’s defence against the charges he is currently facing in Japan.

Eventhough Carlos songlap a bit, at least he made Nissan healthy again. Nissan was near bankruptcy before Carlos came in, but now, it is doing so well.

Proton on the other hand, still losing RM4 million per day despite Government pumping RM20 billion in bailouts to keep the company afloat.

MACC should investigate Proton and see why it has been losing so much of money

    • Let me tell you. If you ask any american mechanics, they will tell you the same story. Since Renault-Nissan merger, the products they made with the joint-venture are crap. Before the merger, Nissan was making very reliable cars. Now Nissan is doing better than Renault worldwide, they should go independent. Why wanna let Renault leach.

    • It seems the troll been working overtime over the couple of days, spreading more bullshit and lies than usual! With the showroom always empty and his sales so bad with no one want to even look at the Rush, we can see that he is getting more desperate.

Getting stabbed in the back. This is what happens when dealing with Japanese companies and trusting them. Just like Takata.

I prefer to get a Proton X70 than any Japanese SUVs. Their quality has been terribly compromised and their safety systems cannot be trusted to save lives.

This looks like the Japanese purposely pushed him out since the French do not have any issues with his salary and perks. Pity the fella for trusting the Japanese and when all is well they sent him to jail.

    • Never trust Japanese brands! Also their affiliates like Perodua, they are both the same untrustworthy species! They told me my Myvi can get 20km/L but now I average 11km/L only. Far, far big difference!
