The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has released sales and production figures for the month of March 2019, and after a soft February, things improved significantly in March.
A total of 54,776 vehicles were delivered in March, which is 14,938 units or 37.5% higher than the 39,838 units that were recorded in February. The performance was also better by 9.58% than the corresponding period last year, in which 49,987 vehicles were sold.
The year-to-date total industry volume (TIV) numbers for the first three months of the year stands at 143,064 units, an improvement over the 135,110 units in the same period last year.
According to the association, the higher sales figures was a result of a longer working month and also due to the rush for deliveries by companies having their financial year ending on March 31. It added that the outlook for April is positive, with volumes expected to mirror that of March.
