With the facelifted MINI Hatch range now on sale in Malaysia, some of you may run into the dilemma of choosing between the 3 Door and 5 Door models. Price-wise, the two are exactly RM10,000 apart, with the Cooper S 3 Door going for RM249,888, while the Cooper S 5 Door retails for RM259,888.
They certainly aren’t cheap, so do you actually get your money’s worth, besides driving around town in an eye-catching modern classic? Well, watch our video review to find out. Besides, we have plenty to talk about when it comes to the brand new seven-speed (wet clutch) dual-clutch transmission.
Mechanically, they both share the same updated BMW 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine, producing 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque, while delivering an average fuel consumption reading of 5.5 litres per 100 km (5.6 litres per 100 km for the 5 Door). The 3 Door goes from zero to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, while the 5 Door completes the same sprint a tenth slower at 6.8 seconds; both will hit 235 km/h.
Also, for the first time, you can customise the MINI Yours Customised Accessories. This includes retrofitted accessories like the side scuttles, the dash fascia, illuminated door sills and door projectors – all customisable to your preferences. Let us know what you think of the cars, below!
