2010 Chevrolet Camaro Details and Hi-Res Photos

We’ve ogled at the Camaro concept in the form of Bumble Bee in the Transformers movie but now it’s time to look at the final production version and ogle at production photos of the exterior, interior as well as the technical specifications! The new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro built on GM’s new global rear wheel drive platform was revealed today and sales of the three variants (LS, LT and SS) will begin in 2009.
The new Chevrolet Camaro LS and LT are offered with a 3.6 liter direct injection V6 engine that features variable valve timing. Power is rated at 300 horsepower at 6,400rpm, and torque is an impressive 370Nm at 5,200rpm - a torque to displacement ratio of more than 100Nm per liter. This engine is available with either a 6-speed manual or a Hydra-Matic 6L50 6-speed automatic transmission. This engine is redlined at 7,000rpm.
The more powerful Chevrolet Camaro SS is V8-powered, but the manual and automatic models receive different engines. The manual model gets the Chevrolet LS3 6.2 liter V8 producing 422 horsepower at 5,000rpm and 553Nm of torque at 4,500rpm. This is paired with a 6-speed TR6060 manual transmission. The automatic model uses the L99 engine, which is based on the LS3. The L99 6.2 liter V8 produces 400 horsepower at 5,000rpm and 535Nm of torque at 4,500rpm.
A key difference between the L99 and the LS3 engine is the Active Fuel Management feature which is essentially a cylinder deactivation system which can shut off one bank of the V8, allowing it to run on four-cylinder mode during light engine load. The L99 also has a lower redline at 6,000rpm compared to the LS3’s 6,600rpm redline.
Unlike that other modern interpretation of a classic car which features a live axle at the rear, the new Chevrolet Camaro features a fully independent suspension on both front and rear. This one one American muscle car that will actually go well around the corner. It recently clocked 8:22 on the Nurburgring, beating the likes of the E46 BMW M3 and the Porsche Cayman S which clocked 8:22 and 8:25 respectively. The LS and LT models get the FE2 sport suspension while the SS model is equipped with the FE3 performance suspension which also lowers the car’s ride height. All models feature disc brakes all-round, but unlike the LS and LT which use single piston calipers the SS model uses 4-pot Brembo calipers on all four discs.
The interior features a center-console gauge cluster that pays homage to the optional gauge cluster on the 1969 Camaro. It displays oil temperature, oil pressure, battery condition and transmission fluid temperature using LED backlighting.

Droooooooooooooooooooling…..
July 23, 2008 @ 4:27 pm
If they have the stones to bring this here then it’ll rock. Must do some kind of high-torque 2.0-2.5L Turbo version for Japan/Malaysia/Australia/NZ/UK/South Africa.
July 23, 2008 @ 4:47 pm
Does anyone know the estimated mpg on this beast - the way fuel prices are increasing you may norbe able to afford to run one!
July 23, 2008 @ 5:51 pm
DROWL…….
what a cool car….
to bad won”t be available here due to our stupid auto policies…
but i did bump into the new Ford Mustang with foreign plates at Sunway couple of months back….
July 23, 2008 @ 5:52 pm
Cool…
July 23, 2008 @ 6:16 pm
How wide is that car? I think its hard to side park that car in Malaysia
July 23, 2008 @ 6:38 pm
If they DO bring this car over here even in a small displacement (2.0L or 2.5L turbocharged) and made in RHD, I don’t give a sh*t on how mpg it deliver! It’s not everyday in your lifetime that you actually could own a classic American muscle car. Sigh! Stinking cr*p auto policies…

permission to speak optimus..
July 23, 2008 @ 7:49 pm
Very nice! Chevrolet Malaysia should bring it in !
July 23, 2008 @ 11:31 pm
lol. only way this beast is coming here is through parallel importers. and even if it did come here, the price due to tax on that humongous v8 engine is gonna be like 8342345392429243 RM.
what we can do is to admire those americanos.

The Mustang is from a German fella I believe. He stays in Penang. I love these American muscles. The Dodge Challenger is nice as well. Maybe paul should show us some of the articles on these modern muscles. All of them are cool but fuel guzzling though..

Wow cool.. Mayb can call bumblebee (autobots) to just come here and transform to those exotic cars! But then.. Mayb they just transform to proton here.. Bummer.. >_<!
July 24, 2008 @ 10:51 am
Autobots, transform. Will be available and affordable for a select few. As for the rest…drool. Why just imagine 3.6 V6 or 6.2 V8 will do to your wallet.
July 24, 2008 @ 11:06 am
6.2 V8 im sure it will rock ur wallet like a rock
July 24, 2008 @ 1:02 pm
American muscle cars are a joke. Good for straight line only. Very low tech, just fancy lights on the dash. They have no idea what handling means. 2.6 turbo RHD for RM200k I’ll buy immediately if I have the money. Pure chick magnet. Ahaks.. Maybe Nasim Sdn. Bhd. can persuade to change the rules a bit.
July 24, 2008 @ 6:47 pm
Kawan mukhri88. Don’t simply says thing which you do not do research on it. I did that once but now i realized. “It recently clocked 8:22 on the Nurburgring” Do you have any ideal what’s a Nurburgring means? It’s one of the top race track in the world. If it can do 8.22 in Nurburgring track and beat the crap out of the BMW and Porsche. Means this car is capable.
Besides, the way u talk, we might think you are surporting the Autobot’s opponent’s “Decepticon”
July 24, 2008 @ 6:55 pm
very nice car, can this transform into bumblebee
July 25, 2008 @ 12:17 pm
what an awesome car…
really appreciated American’s hard work…
fantastic! Bumblebee in the making…
Yes Sir, Optimus Prime.
July 25, 2008 @ 4:22 pm
Yes mokkf82,
Its best if you do some more homework on that.
Anyway this is a very futuristic vintage looking car.
Apart from that,
Not sure if the interior fits the best or the best i’ve seen tough.
July 25, 2008 @ 7:49 pm
Thanks, kei9
Homework is the one that make us learn more, right?
“Not sure if the interior fits the best or the best i’ve seen tough.”
Looks like it you had drive most of the cars in the world to know what’s inside it.
You mean the car’s interior is not tough? I got no comment that. Maybe i should drive a tank to know it.
