An Amusing Usage for the Proton Savvy?

This is a weird way to prove the strength of the Proton Savvy chassis. I don’t know whether to call it an honour or an insult. Quite amusing :P Don’t take it too seriously, it’s just a joke.

MONSTER TRUCK RACING ASSOCIATION USA PURCHASES PROTON SAVVY

Friday, June 10th 2005

In what seemed as automative ground breaking news, the USHRA Monster Trucks annouced today that it will purchase the latest Proton automobile launched just 2 days ago. In an interview, the spokesman for the USHRA Monster Trucks , Frederick Walker confirmed that the association has ordered 50 units of the newly launched Proton Savvy today.

He personally delivered the order to Chief Executive Officer of Proton, Tengku Mahaleel Ariff later this evening at Proton Headquarters, Tanjung Malim. The cars will replace existing scraped cars in all of the associations arenas and race events.

“We are very excited about this new car. The price is right, and the reusability of the car is high. The soft surface of the Savvy will ensure our Monster Trucks ™ will not suffer heavy tyre damage or unwanted punctures during racing. It’s body is the toughest of its class. It will be reused many times in races and I’m sure Malaysians will be proud to have American made Monster Trucks stomping all over it on prime TV.” Mr Frederick Walker when asked to comment about the purchase.

Malaysians can expect the Proton Savvy to debut in Monster Truck races very soon and they can catch them live on “Pall Mall Action Gear : Monster Trucks” aired over TV2 every Thursday 8.00 PM.

I did not write this so don’t have to give me credit :)

Ha ha ha ha!!! This one's real good! Considering the state of Proton cars and their stuck windows, stuck doors, etc., I think it's an honor that someone's willing to turn them into scrap metal in a glamorous way.

  • For our fren who always read newspaper. u know why so many people buy proton? because they dun have other choices. even perodua car have similar range of price. but if someone need a biger car for family use, they must choose proton. not because proton quality, is because with 40k-50k plus in malaysia, we can only buy a proton car. we dun have other option because of the protection give to proton. so, most of the person who bought proton was 'terpaksa' u know? one waja cost around 60k, but with tis price if in other contry, we can buy a nissan sentral oledy. tell us honestly, if both car selling price is 60k, will you choose waja? no person believe u will do so. u are so clear with the figure in jpj, do u know tat proton car's selling oledy drop compare with few years ago (i read in the newspaper oso :)). if u think im wrong, proof it that proton selling keep increasing every year.

    hopeless.

if proton where so successful, it nneednt probly even resort to such desperate sales.

but it cld be a turn around event. who knows, the american are impressed by the toughness of savvy following a high sales record. but wht toughness to prove when all ur car is squashed under the almight monster truck. savvy wont stand a chance. msians national carmaker n its rakyat will surely be laughed at.

    silly. pitiful

  • ya, i agree our country cant compare with others. coz we need to pay a tax nearly 100% for the import car. so that all the user actually was forced to buy proton. one thing u need to know. car sell cheaper in other country is because no need to pay a high tax to protect certain brand of car. no because of the selling is good ok. dun tell me a model of car can easily sell one million units in singapure, brunei or hongkong. exp: getz 1.6 only cost around HK100k (rm50k) in hongkong, far more cheaper than in m'sia rite? i dun think it can sell 1 million units per year, why still so cheap? i did not say tat proton car's price too high, is reasonable. just wana to correct ur view, it get so many buyers not becoz it is a very good car(still have many car better than it), is becoz we dun have other choices any more with limited money. so 'terpaksa' need to buy proton.

sebab tu la dia boleh letak murah sikit…..tapi rumah & barang lain mahal tau……kalau tak percaya tunggu di sempadan….beduyun masuk malaysia nak…….sendiri mau ingat laaaa…

Hanya 11 negara di dunia ni yg buat kereta sendiri..

    U tak bangga ke….

saya tak kerja di proton & perodua pun tumpang bangga tau..hee

Apa masalah awak dengan kereta nasional kita ni…

adalah tidak adil tinggikan tax disebabkan kita tak mampu bersaing dgn org lain. sebagai rakyat tidakkah anda rasa kesian pd diri anda dgn gaji yg tak sebrp tu…..???

mana pegi tax yg dikutip tu…..

apakah demokrasi sedangkan kita tiada pilihan…..

Hmmmm….Proton did one stupid thing, which is to launched their SAvvy right after the MyVi, and we have poor Malaysians clamouring after the bigger MyVi.

Friends, use your brains. the Myvi is Jazz, Swift, Getz and Aveo size.

The Savvy is Kelisa, Picanto, Panda size.

Of course being Malaysian, bigger is better but the MyVi has only 1.3 cc engine inside. Nice city car but no power la.

I have both cars and i can safely say both of them have their own plusses and minuses.

  • seem like someone agree with wat is happening in our country. ask evryone to pay a high tax if they wana buy a car other than proton. tis is so call force to buy oledy lah my fren. i didnt mention bout other country can build their own car ok. my message is "our national car still can sell a lot because it fight in a market that was not fair to the user and other company."

Errr….The Americans protect their Boeing, and the Europeans are sooo protective of their Airbus. The Japanese protect their rice industry while the French will not allow foreign wine to enter their market easily.

So everybody protects their national interest. So apa yang korang bising sangat? You think CHINA does not protect their copycat towkeys ke?

Podaaah chit. Lu orang ckp tak guna otak la.

nak jana ekonomi bukan senang, sekarang nih semua mampu beli kereta. oklah ekonomi bagus tu pon atas dasar yg ok selama ini, rasa sendiri la kalu ekonomi merudum tahun 1998.. keta kena tarik penuh kat padang.. masa tu kancil 3biji 10k pon tak laku..

it first advertisement on tv was a disaster, imagine, driving a savvy blindfold, knock this knockthat, just to prove thats savvy built tough, implication were silly, you mean all those people buying savvy are blind, and the car are not safe, runs around like being possessed, make one feel that if you by savvy, you must be blindfold by them into believing that you are making the right choice,or you are simply being charm by their spell into making crazy decision.thats the true and actual meaning of thats tv commercial of savvy 1st air to whole nation,if not true then why they quickly removed it when people start to awaken by self realization and not fool by them.
