Audi already has plans to add a premium SUV smaller than it’s recently launched Audi Q7 called the Audi Q5 to it’s line of new SUVs. The Audi Q5 will compete directly with the BMW X3 and will be based on the A4 sedan’s chassis.
Now Audi’s head of concept development Ulrich Hackenberg has mentioned that Audi is considering an Audi Q3, a small SUV based on the Audi A3. It makes sense since parent Volkswagen is building a Golf SUV based on the Volkswagen Golf, and the Audi A3 has alot in common with the Volkswagen Golf.
The idea of a small SUV is not foreign to Audi, as Audi has already showcased the Audi Steppenwolf concept back in the year 2000, which was a 3-door small SUV concept featuring a 225hp 3.2 litre V6 engine.
I kind of like how Volkswagen and Audi shares it’s platforms, like the Passat/A4, Golf/A3, Touareg/Q7. Audi will continue adding more models in an offensive sales strategy to boost it’s globals sales to 1.5 million by the year 2015, double of the 829,100 vehicles sold in 2005.

note that the latest Passat does not share chassis with A4, but uses a modified Golf platform. The engine of new Passat is traversely mounted, not like A4 and old passat anymore. :)
the Audi strategy not that good enough.
they still lack of brand streategy.
just look how BMW did. its too bullish to produce variety of models.
its enough for them to have Q7 & Q5.
i think people will go elsewhere than buying the Q3 that look like the A3.
Personally, I prefer the Audi brand. Somehow, BMW drivers tend to have a negative image. Somewhat arrogant and obnoxious. Just my personal opinion, not meant to insult anyone.
Mercedes drivers tend be somewhat viewed as more mature and I don't fall into that category for a few more years. Audi is more neutral and appealing to the younger set.
As for the Q3 and Q5, will have to wait and see the actual car first. But if it looks like the new models, I'm sure I'm going to like it.

Yeah ~ Jazz with an Ass = City. Personally, i really lost hope seeing Malaysian consumers were so much affected by brand…. brand conscious, brand conscious and brand conscious. If ever Proton were to produce a car that looked like City …. people would condemn… and condemn they will… gao gao~ but now Honda comes out with that kumbang looking car, they say nice…. OMG. bleh~

well,people go for City mainly becoz of the FC & maintenance cost.
plus, City is AMT car. even the weird looking, but the specs is damn nice one!
but maybe you're one of a kind that only cares bout nice looking than nice specs… you're rich i guess.
