There’s more than meets the eye when it comes to the Lexus LF-A. The exterior may look a little soft and boring but I’m in love with the cool instrument panel. The rev meter can actually physically move around according to the display’s needs! You’ll see what I mean in the video after the jump. Trust the Japanese to come up with something as techno-funky as this – totally gimmicky but damn cool.

the only thing that moves is the front Ring of the Rev meter. the rest is one piece of LCD panel. but that does make a damn good, and i am serious , a damn good effect !
totally agree with u dude. read in the paper a couple of weeks ago about Honda's single tyred motorbike…a resemblance of Bulma's capsule corp bike in Dragon Ball..totally cool!!perhaps malaysian will get their inspiration from Upin & Ipin…correct3!
very cool feat!
the odometer can be configured to show optimal shifting rpm..
great for drag race i guess.. =)
and i wonder how the speedometer is able to show up to 100km/h but the trip meter doesn’t even add 0.1km?
naahh, that a demo unit with simulation I think. not fitted on car yet

>>> Savvy reminds me of Lagann, if you watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, you'll know it.
torque : makes sense? Err… no. I think the british will still want an Aston. Europeans wouldn't pay for a cool meter panel, but they'll pay the brand. These crazy japanese… they just don't get it. Their cars just doesn't work in europe, elsewhere maybe, but in europe, Continental brand reigns supreme.
Lexus should market LF-A to Hollywood stars. They'll have higher chance of success there.

Yeah, but like i said, they have better chance of selling those 500 elsewhere outside Europe.
We always like to make assumptions that the "filthy rich", whoever they are, don't treasure their hard earned money at all. That, as long as something is overpriced, they'll buy it on reflex. Truth is, it's not always the case, especially between Japan and Europe. IMHO, it's fundamentally due to the culture. You'll know what I'm talking about if you've been to any European country.
This isn't a gimmick at all, but totally necessary. The 1LR-GUE V10 engine the LF-A uses revs from idle to redline in 0.6 seconds. The engineers said a mechanical analog dial would be too slow. I guess if you've got to make a dial digital just to work, you might as well make it look like a video game interface while you're at it.
