Italdesign Giugiaro teases Geneva city car concept

Italdesign Giugiaro’s website has a teaser for a concept car that they will be showing at the Geneva show at the end of this month at their booth (204 in Hall 2). The teaser text simply says “How can you fit an SUV into a city car?” and leaves us with the image above showing a big boxy SUV tailing a much smaller compact city car.

I have no idea if this has anything to do with the new Proton concept car that’s set to debut at Geneva (the shape kinda looks similar), but we’ll see what it is exactly when the press days start at the end of this month.

SUV in a city car? Would it be like a bigger version of Kia Soul? Or Citroen C3 Picasso?

The concept car is a creative collaboration with Italdesign Giugiaro and based on a hybrid propulsion system. The specially designed chassis also features a raised floor that can accommodate the conventional engine as well as the hybrid system’s batteries in the rear. The concept car leverages on maximising space, while maintaining the overall dimensions of a compact car.

The five-door, four-seater hatchback concept car has a total length of 3550mm and features a front-mounted endothermic engine for recharging the lithium ion batteries with a fully electric drive-train.

The car was conceived with the aim of maximising the interior roominess and improving access to the vehicle. The high position of the four independently-adjustable and sliding seats, allows passengers to fully enjoy the spacious interior. Thanks to the combination of these two technical specifications the car is easier to enter, as the seats’ H-points (or the position of an occupant’s hip) are at the same height as in an SUV.

    Well done Proton Management!!!

Concept cars you'll find aplenty from all makes when it

comes to Autoshows. It's just showcasing the future in the motoring

industry. Most of these concept cars are just dreams or visions.

Maybe this concept P1 car to be launched by TDM is based on

his Vision 2020 !! Good luck & all the best to P1may it become a REALITY!!

konsep yang bagus.. Hehe maka rekaannya akan jadilah spt Myvi dimana headroom yang tinggi tetapi drive tak terasa sgt macam SUV walau tinggi mungkin sbb dia lebar sikit dan gravitinya direndahkan.. wa x tau wa teka2 jer

    tahniah Proton.

    1) design look like Myvi Malaysia cuma ditouch up, dipendekkan, diubah sana sini sikit jadilah kereta baru.

Lain2 model jualan amat2 menyedihkan.

Lagi best lagi laris

    5) x salah upah company lain design kereta.

    6) Proton wajib memastikan kereta ni keluar secepat mungkin.

Satria Neo dah ramai mintak 5 pintu tetapi hingga hari ni masih 3 pintu. Adus.. lamanyer aku menunggu nak tengok Neo 5 pintu. Kalau dah 5 pintu konpem jualan meningkat, penguasaan Myvi dalam pasaran bakal merosot. Hehehe

i like your comment Fikir Luar Diluar Kotak …jangan tunggu lama 2x ….nanti di ambil orang !!!

a very good example ws the MPV segment where Proton took ages to come out with the Exora … by then the market was flooded with too many brands

    with Toyota leading the way.

Hopefully the current concept model will cater to the malaysian public in general. ie Indon mkt prefers MPV's which made Toyota Avanza & innova the best selling models for 2009. Maybe Proton should look at the Msian mkt and do a survey to find out the "citirasa" of the rakyat.

Hehehe…. Based on proton 10 years of Business Planning. Proton will kick off their hybrid car (I repeat "hybrid" and hybrid it's quite different with Electric car) on 2011. i bet you cannot wait and proton still never loose you if you buy other brand. Hahahaha… If you think global, i bet you will talk differently.

Guys, talk with information. Pump your brain with knowledge then later talk like no age. Myvi is 80's. Same years with Wira. We're going global. Have you heard about shape detailing???

To outsource other company is about money but to partnership other company are comes from many ways. It may comes from stake holder, technology, product and etc. Proton had done their R&D for their City Car long before they looking for partner. I believe both parties are in WIN condition and i think we will benefit from it.

Hmm, before to be OUT-SIDE OF THE BOX, be IN-SIDE first.

    Happy Motoring!!!!
