2012 Mercedes CLS: more official pictures released ahead of Paris 2010

Mercedes has released more official pictures of the 2nd generation CLS, keeping the public well informed ahead of its Paris debut. Thanks to a leaked brochure pictures, we got a first glimpse of the new CLS, which has now been revealed in all its glory.

As you can see, the new Mercedes family face goes well with the CLS, no more looking like a bug of some kind. Though, it does look like the German’s have regressed in terms of individualist style, sticking with safer design lines.

The only thing Mercedes will be keeping away from the public till Paris is the specs of the car. Regardless, some are convinced that it will feature a 3.5 litre V6 engine generating 306hp, 4.7-litre 429hp turbo V8 and a range topping AMG 5.5 litre turbo v8 punching in at 536hp. You can expect all this and more at the Paris Motor Show 2010.

boy oh boy, this is just as lame as the case of 5-series e60 > f10

the current cls is such a gorgeous classy looking car, with perfect lines and every single bit of awesome design elements…..

everytime a cls passes by, my reaction is OHHH WOOW, the feeling is just like seeing a quattroporte or flying spur…..

this new cls is ntg but ODD and WEIRD, and it looks more like an E-class replacement instead of CLS…..

    omg, this is so wrong……

i feel so bad deep inside my heart……

u see, the current magnificent cls got so much influence, even passat cc and the latest OMG-SO-NICE sonata are using some of its elements…

        its such a successful merc!

but this so called new cls, just 2 words: LAME DISAPPOINTMENT

Looks a bit too cluttered at the rear quarter. I prefer the VW Passat CC.. clean, sleek lines without all those busy criss-crossing and sudden fender flare. The Passat CC looks much more elegant and sporty than this, or the previous CLS for that matter.

  • What are your thoughts on the body surfacing of the New CLS?

I thnk Mercedes’s current design language is “weirder” than Bangle’s Flame Surfacing.

Oh no, no longer hv the sharp nose like the current CLS tht make it look so aerodynamic & slick. The current CLS gv u the feeling like a 4 door sports car rather than a normal saloon but the new one look like one.Nothg interesting anymore like others saloon car.More like the S class replacement than the E.

but not this new cls, i can already felt its ugly-ness just think of it, without a need for pictures….

current cls is the BEST looking 4-dr coupe in the entire universe……

    Too busy.

Too many design elements going on. Not enough differentiation from the E Class.

The car has lost a bit of the elegance of the last generation. Went for a more masculine & macho look this time. But the maroon coloured looks better though (hides those zig zagging lines).

somehow Merc’s design has gone weirder while BMW has done the opposite. What the heck is happening

This is muscle car look rather than the sleek elegance of the current model. This might still look ok in certain colours but I like the elegant one more.

I agree that the car is very busy, but what were they going to do keep making the same car for 10 years 15 years. This car will grow on everyone, plus wait until you see it in person. The same with the e-class. for some reason it doesnt photograph well. Just my thoughts…..
