Italdesign Giugiaro Volkswagen concept drawings leaked?

Italdesign Giugiaro Volkswagen concept drawings leaked?

These drawings of what’s supposed to be a range of Volkswagen concept cars by (now Volkswagen-owned) Italdesign Giugiaro have surfaced on the internet. They look like a C-segment and a B-segment hatchback, and the styling is curiously similar to the Proton EMAS and Lotus City Car concepts, also styled by Italdesign Giugiaro. It so happens the Proton and Lotus concepts were unveiled almost exactly a year ago at last year’s Geneva show, and now it’s time for this year’s Geneva show to roll around.

      • have u seen the contract? Nope, I believe VW won’t make this move unless they know they have the rights to the design.

You think it’s like a human being getting even because he’s mad? This is business and there are laws to adhere to. Proton paid Italdesign for the design and the rights rightfully belongs to the company. If VW introduced this they should sue VW for everything they got!

    My God!!
What is this? Giugiaro is designing the same car for all automakers?

I seriously hope that the EMAS plan is not off now: since Giugiaro has been acquired by the VW Group, is there a chance that they might of scrapped works with Proton and revoked any licensing and/or copyrights to their design?

Is this a possibility Paul or is EMAS already at final planning stages?

This looks very scary because VW can very easily (a snap of fingers and woooosh!) take the star from PROTON.

    Hmmmmmm….

VW owns Italdesign Giugiaro now, basically they have the right to their design, since they are concept design for proton and lotus for now, not sure if they(proton & lotus) actually bought the design. Or this car will be sharing among vw, proton, & lotus?

Unless it was authorized by proton VW can’t simply take their design and use it as their own. Usually research, concept, design etc is owned by the client, in this case is Proton regardless of the status of the project. VW is really digging their grave if they use EMAS design. Lawsuit isn’t pretty.

leaked pix of unknown age. are we even sure these designs are owned by proton? anyways, concept has not been made into solid form as proton is still looking for technology to be put into their guigaro design. so, whoever gets it to market first, wins i say.

expend? what are you talking about? proton can do what? gearbox tak da, engine diesel tak da. apa da? sarung kain NAP to jaga malu.

What’s with this obsession with gearboxes? Even VW’s much vaunted DSG gearbox is designed by BorgWarner, who is NOT owned or affiliated with VW.

Wanna talk about NAP protection, go take a look at the beloved P2. No own design, no nothing!
