Dacia has released the first images of its new MPV called the Lodgy, which will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The vehicle’s name is derived from the English word ‘lodge,’ and refers directly to the model’s ability to comfortably accommodate a family and its luggage, so goes Dacia.

The vehicle, which is set to come into the European market later this year, will be available in both five- and seven-seater forms, though the decision on commercialisation of the vehicle in right-hand drive form has yet to be finalised.

The company isn’t saying much about the upcoming vehicle, beyond the point that the 4.5 metre-long Lodgy promises a roomy interior catering to everyone on board, even third-row passengers, as well as an exceptionally large boot. More on it when the Swiss show comes, undoubtedly.

    Dacia = Renault = Nissan

    Not surprised if based on the Grand Livina. The main styling cues are all there.

    Don’t forget that this is probably a 10000 Euro car. The 7 seater competition is much more expensive in Europe, starting at maybe 18000 Euro? These things are seriously cheap (the Logan MCV (also 7 seater, that one is more like a Wish or Grand Livina, this one is probably more of a Touran/Exora sort of car) is also a sub 10000 Euro car, and the Dacia Duster SUV costs around 11000 IIRC).

    Say hello to your competition, Proton, should you chose to go to Europe with the Exora.

    Btw., there is probably little relationship to the Grand Livina, apart from the engine perhaps. This Dacia is based on the next Dacia Logan platform.

      No. Maybe engines they share, but the Lodgy is based on the platform developed for the Logan II, and I doubt Nissan uses a Dacia platform for their Grand Livina.

      I’m surprised how decent recent Dacia look like. Just look at the old Logan and Logan MCV… those cars redefine ugliness/utilitarian design, even the Vios can’t compete with that.

          Yeah yeah, I know they look alike. Maybe same designer, or the Dacia designer thought… ah, no one in Europe will know the Livina, I can copy that one.

          But underneath the surface they should be relatively different (though again, some parts such as engine and gearbox they might share).

          Also look at the dimensions. The Dacia Logan MCV has quite similar dimensions to the Livina (even that one is a bit taller than the Livina), while the Lodgy should be quite a bit taller. It’s supposed to go against the Touran.
