POD Point provides free home charging points to electric and hybrid car owners in the UK

With the help of a UK government grant, POD Point is installing charging points for owners of hybrid and electric cars in East Anglia and the East and West Midlands, for free.

If you reside in any of the following regions – Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Derbyshire, Essex, Herefordshire, Hertfordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Suffolk, Telford & Wrekin, Warwickshire, West Midlands or Worcestershire – you can apply by e-mailing [email protected] or phoning 0207 247 4114 with your desired installation address. However, if you’re a Londoner living within the M25 you have to first participate in the Low Carbon London electric vehicle usage trial – details here – before you can apply for the charging point.

The unit, called the Solo 2, uses GPRS to communicate with an online account to help drivers track how much energy they’re using. Remote locking of the charging point and the setting of charging schedules can also be carried out from a laptop, PC or mobile phone.

POD Point is made up of the UK’s leading EV charging experts. The company regularly consults and advises for the Department for Transport and the Office for Low Emission Vehicles.

  • So, in the future, with electric cars booming, TNB might get richer than Petronas?
