It’s very probably the last vehicle on Earth you’d imagine as a taxi, but it must surely rank as one of the coolest. Yes, it’s for promotional purposes and therefore you’re very unlikely to hail the Renault Megane Trophy V6 you see in this clip on L’Avenue des Champs-Élysées.
Doesn’t stop us from wishing we could, though – what’d we give to hear that 400 hp/422 Nm 3.5 litre V6 at full pelt just behind our ears as the World Series car mercilessly doughnuts around the French capital’s Place de la Concorde. A few of its fares, however, clearly seem to be begging for merci.
A comparatively tamer relation is the Renault Megane RS 265 Cup (although still a right scorcher with 265 hp and 360 Nm of twist from its turbocharged 2.0 litre four-pot unit), which launched in Malaysia at the beginning of the year.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
The Trophy makes the RS 250 Cup looks like a pussy cat.
i love the see the lady with the camera looking scared and yet interested to shoot more…
Anybody know why Renault is a big failure in Malaysia? Can we analyse why other good cars like Fiat, Saab, Alfa all flopped in Malaysia too? Is H and T too powerful?
Renault should consider making this as a production car. Love the sound of the V6, like millions of bees.
Not the first time Renault has done this.
They had a Espace give “taxi” rides too…. One with a streaming f1 motor
Are you sure the Espace F1 was ever used on public roads, or even as a taxi? You needed a driver with the skill of a F1 driver, and a F1 race team to even get the thing started (which is no surprise because it was a F1 car with a body that looked like an Espace on top).
They had given “taxi” rides on the track. Note the quotation marks.
As a taxi, you must be kidding me. This car will breakdown so often, passenger should take bus instead.
It’s a promo video, stupid. But yeah, that engine is probably prone to break down… the V6 is sourced from Nissan.
Nissan is bullet proof. You see sunny still so many on the road. You look at renault….I am sure nissan sunny more than renault kangaroo on malaysian road. So who is more reliable….Made In Japan Rocks!!!
Reminds me of the movie Taxi (and it’s sequels, excluding the awful US remake).
The fastest taxi in the world until Bugatti also decides to build one base on the Veyron.
