2015 Nissan X-Trail spotted on oto.my – sub-RM150k?

Nissan X-Trail IIMS- 2

This is interesting – we spotted an ad for the 2015 Nissan X-Trail on our sister classifieds site oto.my. The third-generation SUV, which made its ASEAN debut in Indonesia in September, was advertised to arrive in early January, less than two months from now.

According to the description, the locally-assembled X-Trail will come in two variants – a sub-RM150k front-wheel drive 2.0 litre model and a sub-RM170k four-wheel drive 2.5 litre. The outgoing X-Trail is only sold here in 2.0 litre 2WD form, currently retailing at RM148,815 on the road without insurance, so expect the base model of the new car to have a similar price tag.

Standard equipment, at least on the top-spec model, is said to include keyless entry and start, a navigation system, cruise control and leather seats. At the moment, it is unclear if these variants are five- or seven-seater models (the current X-Trail is only sold here in a five-seater format).

The two powertrains available will be a Serena S-Hybrid-derived MR20DD 2.0 litre direct-injected mill developing 144 PS and 200 Nm, as well as a QR25DE 2.5 litre MPI motor from the Teana that produces 171 PS and 233 Nm. Unlike in Indonesia – where the 2.0 litre model was available with a six-speed manual – we’re expecting the X-Trail to arrive with an Xtronic CVT as standard.

    • Where is Najib's Promise? on Nov 11, 2014 at 5:24 pm

What is MOST important is where is Najib’s promise to reduce car prices by 30%? At RM150k, this car is still very expensive in Malaysia. It is an affordable car in the US as it is priced around US$23,600 (with a 4.0 pumping put 261 bhp)

More than a year ago, Najib promised every single of the 30 million Malaysians that he would reduce car prices by 30% if we voted for him and his BN party before the elections.

Najib swore that BN always kept their promises and we Malaysians had nothing to worry about BN not keeping their word. He told us not to trust Pakatan and he firmly said he would match Pakatan’s manifesto of reducing car prices by 30%.

More than a year has passed, nothing has reduced. Infact, car prices have gone up!

How can we trust Najib, BN and UMNO if basic promises like this they cannot keep? This is just a basic and simple promise. What about bigger promises of tackling corruption, improving healthcare and education?

      Has Najib lied to us?

How to buy at RM150,000? Government should reduce because Tan Chong cost is so cheap. In CKD form, the car is probably less than US$15,000

78.6% of all EPF contributors still earn RM3000 and below. (That is from RM500 to RM2999). This was announced by Raja Nazrin recently quoting EPF data.

He was proving the Government wrong as the Government again lied to the people that we are on our way to earn GDP Per Capita of US$48,000 per annum by 2020. That is US$4000 (RM13,000) per month by 2020, which is 6 years time.

Raja Nazrin, Sultan of Perak refuted the governments claim and openly declared EPF figures that 78.6% of all EPF contributors still earn RM3000 and below.

He also said 2 million households earn RM5000 and below which Raja Nazrin said was Government statistics.

So, how can people afford cars costing more than RM100,000? Why is it just exclusive to high income earners?

Do you think average gaji of Malaysians will go up to RM13,000 in 6 years time?

      • X Trail in an APEK car on Nov 11, 2014 at 6:24 pm

Why buy this apek contractor car? CX5 with more advanced engine is RM137k. Engine so advanced that is at par with diesel.

Xtrail will always be a contractor car. An Apek car. It will always be in construction sites and driven by apeks who dig their nose, put toothpick in their teeth whilst driving and at traffic lights, the owner will take 2 ten sen coin and use it to cabut his facial hair.

I suggest that you buy a new car during end of year. Got discount, rebate meh. Plus even without gov promises, car companies can reduce their vehicles prices. Should we blamed these car companies instead for selling higher prices in the beginning?

Saw one recently on LDP. It was all covered up in black cladding. Sorry didnt have time to whip out the phone to take pictures. I really don’t understand the need for the secrecy when pictures of the same car (in other countries) are everywhere on the internet.

Ff sub 150K & 170K is the price. It is on the high side if volume game is what TC is looking at a CKD unit. Santa Fe with better spec would make a better choice as both brand do not common good RV. Lets wait for the official prices as well as specs in Jan 15 then.

SantaFe has great spec list but the 2 airbags are huge dissapointement… If X-trail is going to continue the spec list found in Teana and Sylphy, I think X-Trail will be a better pick…

      • Exactly how is.... on Nov 11, 2014 at 7:11 pm

Teana and Sylphy better specced? The 4 inch stream with no Navigation? Is it the fact that it doesn’t have a sunroof? Or start/stop? Or auto-wiper? Or LED running light?

What exact is so good about TC product Mr. TC salesman.

At this price, the C4 Grand Picasso is a better deal than the X-trail. All of the above checked. Plus active safely line lane assist, 360 camera and such. 7 seat? Check. More airbags than the Slyphy and Teana combined? Check. And all for the top spec X-trail + 10K. Do not buy this crap.

UMW and TCM needs to wake up. The days of raking in the dough with substandard spec is over. Please catch up with the times and start giving Malaysian what they pay for.

This model has quite a decent spec list in other markets so will there be hope in TCM to spec is correctly especially for the 2.0l model? They have to understand most people do not need a 2.5l engine since its only meant to ferry people around and most of these will not even enter the jungle at all hence the 2.0l will be the volume seller.

  • 150K? ueeeeeekkk ETCM you may keep your SUV.

To all those potential buyers out there, hold on to your purchase for at least 6 months to a year and see if the car prices comes down on it’s own.
Don’t wait for Najib cause as long as Proton and Mahatir
around that is not going to happen.

Yup, 7 seater is one of the key factor. Nice to have it to ferry extended families when needed.Down side will be the 2 airbag & price tag. Factor that will put off many buyers.

  • I really can’t understand the car that merely RM100K in Indonesia appreciated to almost 50% when reach our shore.

    2.0l 2WD variant should be under RM120K. 2.0l 4WD no more dearer than RM130K and 2.5l 2WD must be sub-RM145K.

NO POINT TO CKD THE CAR IF THE PRICE A WAY DEARER THAN INDONESIA.

Even Inokom-assembled facelift Elantra cheaper up to RM30K in Thailand why should a Nissan dare to put RM45-50K+ dearer?

Nissan’s RV better than Toyota-Nissan? Really pathetic to witness no sign of proprice drop but price hikes instead for nmost of our cars.

Nissan car always so ugly… but seems like Malaysia have a huge Nissan fan base, no matter how ugly is their car, still a lot of people will buy. Look at the car carefully, there’s no innovation at all in their design and with that kind of high price tag, better get CX-5 with better engine and looks.
