SPIED: W205 Mercedes-Benz C 300 BlueTEC Hybrid

mercedes-benz-c-300-hybrid-malaysia-1

Reader KaZ has sent in these pics of a registered Mercedes-Benz C-Class on the LDP with “C 300 Hybrid” badging on the boot. This is strange – in the W205 range, there exists a C 300 (petrol), a C 300 BlueTEC Hybrid (diesel-hybrid) and a C 350 Plug-in Hybrid (plug-in petrol hybrid), but not this per se.

We’re guessing this is a C 300 BlueTEC Hybrid, and that its boot badge has been changed for some reason. Given that the E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid is already on sale in Malaysia (and CKD locally-assembled, no less!), it wouldn’t surprise us too much if this was part of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia‘s plans for the near future.

mercedes-benz-c-300-hybrid-malaysia-2

The C 300 BlueTEC Hybrid uses the same powertrain as the E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid – a 204 hp/500 Nm 2.1 litre turbodiesel joins forces with a 27 hp/250 Nm three-phase electric motor to power the rear wheels via a 7G-Tronic seven-speed auto.

The electric motor is installed in the clutch housing between the engine and gearbox to save space, while the compact lithium-ion battery is to be found within the engine bay.

    • MBM Pls Don't Cheat Malaysians on Jan 29, 2015 at 5:15 pm

Don’t know how much the liars and penipu at MBM going to cheat us for this C300 car. But our CKD E300 Bluetec already about RM350k in Malaysia

But in the US, E400 Hybrid churning out 307bhp is sold for US$57,100. (That is less than RM200,000). Bear in mind the car is hybrid so when it comes to Malaysia, it is tax free. Bear in mind its fully CBU 100% Made in Germany.

Now the E300 Hybrid should be far far cheaper than the E400 Hybrid. Its 50% Made in Malaysia, to qualify for CKD tax benefits, a car has to have about 50% Malaysian parts.

So we are paying a half Made in Malaysia E300 Bluetec for RM350,000 when a fully CBU E400 is less than RM200,000 in Malaysia.

So how much is MBM making per car? RM200k clean profit?

      • Do you really think MBM would really wanna set a price with 200k clean profit? Please don’t always compare our pricing with US as our car prices are control by the government, just imagine what will really happen if the E300 can price below RM200k.

        • if MBM are really making 200k clean profit from E300, then why dun they take the same profit in the US and maybe other country why only make so much money from Malaysian? Think again lah bro, MBM is not a dealer, how can they suddenly become so greedy when it comes to the Malaysian market? Someone out there is just controlling the price…

Never ever buy a brand new Mercedes. In the first year alone, ANY Mercedes drops over RM120k. Look at the many 2013/2014 Mercedes E250 going for now RM220,000 now. Brand new cost RM420,000. Most of the cars are virtually brand new. In more than a year, the car can lose RM200,000.

This is only the first year depreciation. 2nd year, it drops RM20k, 3rd year Rm20k and so on.

So, be wise, go buy a 2nd hand Mercedes. Most are virtually brand new with low mileage. Let the first fool buy this Mercedes and let him lose over RM150k in the first year. Then you cleverly go buy it for RM150k less.

Remember, never ever buy a Brand new Mercedes unless you are super rich and don’t mind the depreciation!

When E300 is lower than Rm200k, lots of AhBengs will drive it…
But Nvm, it means that super cars will be cheaper as well! Aventador & Mclaren will be my choice!

We compare dollar to dollar, UK people earning 5k per mth but their Aventador is around 400k pound…
We here in malaysia earn 5k per mth, but Aventador is freaking god damn RM 2.7 million!!!!!
(Day dream that our car price will be lower one day like overseas)

Why is it more expensive in comparison that the e400 in langkawi only cost RM 331,896.00 after full duty exemptions?

it may not be a 200k profit but it still certainly is a high profit.

You guys have no idea about car specs in Europe and (probably) US. It is perfectly possible to make a C180 more expensive than a C400… In fact that is very easy. Just pick a few options. The C400 hybrid won’t have better specs than the C180, it only has a bigger engine. Otherwise it is a base spec car. Mercedes charges extra for cup holders on the S500, they are missing if you don’t order them. Imagine how empty the C class will be.

Please don’t be so naive, and consider a few things
        1. Do you really understand how does the taxation of a vehicle work in Malaysia? Please go and read up the tax exemption for hybrid CKD vehicles and all the other taxes involved before commenting and showing your ignorance
        2. If you own MBM, would you want to place it, say, 100k below the E200 and cheaper than a C200? when you can still sell the E300 hybrid like hot cake at 350k?
        3. Also consider other factors like the currencies involved here, do you think the MYR is as strong as the USD?

This car has no RV, only those who got no money but want to show off will buy this car with 9 years 90%loan. Rich man buy Camry and they keep all money in their bank.

Only kiasu entry-level rich man buy Camry because so scared of RV.

Real super rich man don’t care about RV because their cash flow in so much more than the depreciation of their cars.

I have the feeling that’s the case…this C300 has to be out now to take advantage else it’s gonna be a pricey model but I don’t think this model can undercut the base C200 by much but they can offer more spec to entice prospective buyers.

Do note that the electric battery don’t come cheap…ask your friendly MBM dealer SA and they’ll let you know about the awesome price tag to replace the battery.

As a benchmark, the A6 Hybrid with comparable specs (plus adaptive suspension) was RM285K vs the E300 Hybrid which is RM60K more….CKD some more. There is some merit that MBM fleecing us?

Interesting to see how they would price the C300…

Most likely a preproduction unit running around. I realise you can add badges too from a Merc dealer… I saw an E class pre facelift W212 with the 7 G Tronic badge at the rear, and it was a Cycle and Carrige car (with the badge and all), and from that I knew he added the badge as the malaysian ones are without it.

Could be that MBM wants to avoid attention of the BlueTec Hybrid by just keeping the tiny hybrid badge in hope to avoid people from spitting, unless you are a seasoned Paultan.org reader that is…

  • MBM is taking the people for fools. Collect unlimited bookings long before launch date but only a few will eventually get their car. Even that at highly inflated price despite the tax breaks. Really disappointed with MBM.

  • my question is why need diesel-hybrid .. a pure diesel engine is good enough for torque and fuel saving . if battery break down after 4 years , you will need to replace it with the cost around 40k . except they offer a 10years warranty for battery it is not worth buying . for me I,m waiting for 320d m-sport LCI .

The battery would set you back RM50K…ahem. 4yrs warranty is fine for the rest of the car but extend the battery warranty to at least 7 years…in our driving conditions coupled a lot of heat and moisture…the battery lifespan would certainly be shorten?

  • Maybe the owner just change the badge to confuse us. Next month maybe we shall see a C63 with a hybrid batch?

  • I would really love to buy the new C300 hybrid. My personal opinion MBM should have brought in the new C class rather then the E class but knowing then the new C200 and C250 won’t be able to be sold. The E 300 hybrid bluetec has been around for sometime and it’s only a facelift model. Nothing great on pricing noting Audi’s A6 was only sold around RM285k.
