Capping one of the busiest days ever in the Malaysian motoring scene is the launch of the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso 1.6 e-THP by Naza Euro Motors at Mid Valley. The arrival of the petrol-powered Grand C4 Picasso is not a surprise – the MPV has been present in Citroen showrooms and we gave you a thorough look at it last month. Here’s a recap.
The unique French people carrier was first introduced here last year with a 2.0 litre BlueHDi turbodiesel. It may boast 370 Nm of torque and 21.74 km/l economy, but the reality is that an oil burner isn’t most Malaysians’ choice of engine.
The petrol alternative is moved by a direct-injected THP163 engine with 163 hp and 240 Nm at 1,400 rpm. Matched to a six-speed automatic gearbox, it gets from 0-100 km/h in 8.7 seconds on the way to a top speed of 201 km/h. Fuel consumption is rated at 5.8 litres per 100 km (17.24 km/l) on the European combined cycle. To compare, the diesel does 10.2 seconds and 207 km/h.
Engine aside, the rest of the Grand C4 Picasso 1.6 THP163 is per the diesel. One gets the same 18-inch “Python” alloys, panoramic roof (with the trademark extended front windscreen), an electrically-powered tailgate and keyless entry.
Also standard is a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that sits below a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, navigation, 360-degree surround view system, reverse camera, dual-zone automatic climate control in front and air vents for the second (pillar-mounted dual-zone blower control) and third rows (roof-mounted single-zone blower control). Browse the gallery below to see the features in detail.
How much? The Citroen Grand C4 Picasso 1.6 e-THP is priced at RM179,888 OTR with insurance and GST. That’s RM10,000 cheaper than the RM189,888 diesel variant, giving another point to the in-house petrol vs diesel boxing match. Available colours are Blue Teles, Noir Onyx (black), Rouge Babylon (red) and Blanc Banquise (white).

At first I thought the price was a bit too steep because I mind immidiately compares it to the 5008. But then the 5008 doesn’t have all the gadgets and isn’t as good looking as this. It’s also about 100k less than the VW Sharan.
Sam can sell his cheras flat to buy this car. Live in the car and some more take 9 yrs loan for it.
Both unattractive… car and girls
You are one of the few who said the car is unattractive.
That aside, if I have the cash, I’ll still get the diesel over the petrol one.
SEET DOU LOONG
Must have been a really tough day for Danny ;-D
Sharan is a true 7 seater, competes with cars like the ford Galaxy in Europe. This is just a 5+2.
This vs the Touran should be a very easy choice. More reliable (no DSG), more spacious and more usable 3rd row seats, much better ride quality (not hard, given how bad the Touran is… it’s a people mover, VW, not a race car!). More power too. And just look at it.
I’m not sure which one is better but I sit in my uncle’s Touran before and it’s feel really comfortable almost felt asleep.
Best of luck Citroen..
welcome, e-THP family to Malaysia
this C4 best for najib la since he is quite familiar with the name
Who wants to buy this car?
way better than stupid 2 series
seriously, the active tourer is a joke
But you still can’t afford it
This is really a great car. I own the diesel variant. Achieved above 1,200km with a single tank. Didn’t regret buying it. However, NAZA needs to improve it’s customer service – which I deemed is absolutely unacceptable at the moment. Was told only after 3 months getting the car that the 5 years warranty is actually a 3+2 arrangement. The final 2 years is from a local insurance company and it does not provide the same level of coverage. Up till today, many owners have not received any letter nor details of the insurance coverage. Totally unacceptable!
They give you long warranty because it takes that long for the parts to arrive.
I hope you have a spare car brother. You will need it.
Parts has problem? I had the fascia on the dashboard replaced under warranty (there was a tiny bubble on the piano black trim that most people wouldn’t have even noticed)
Part was replaced on the same day as I sent in the car. Just got delayed to afternoon because the first part pulled from warehouse was “not acceptable” (Citroen service,I never saw it) and they pulled another new piece from warehouse instead.
Personally, I am very satisfied with both Citroen sales and service in Glenmarie.
Do come back with more user experience after sometime.
Personally, quite interested with the car.
But I am worry of naza after sales…
And frankly, my friend told me we can hardly see a Citroën that’s longer then 5-6 years old on the road… sound like true also.
8.7 secs to 100km/h is pretty fast for a people mover. Quicker than most C and D segment sedans. Not bad at all. Looks good too.
Peugeot 308 and 408 using the same identical engine, quotes 9.4 seconds .
now given that Peugeot weight is much lighter than C4, either citroen is lying or Peugeot is lying.
You will probably see more Rolls Royce on the road then this.
“That bad the sales?” I heard you saying…
Not really, but most will spend months in service center waiting for the parts to arrive.
Paultan! Do you forget ah? This Grand C4 Picasso also come with adaptive cruise control. By radar. Not by visual/camera. Under 200k, it sure beat Previa even Ford SMax. Even Sharan doesn’t have adaptive cruise control and priced higher than this. around 280k if i’m not mistaken.

At first i was looking something like the Alphard,Biante,Oddyssey,5008 when i come upon this..I was given RM5k discount and trade in my 2012 Exora Bold plus i top up another RM30k for e downpayment.Monthly about RM945 for 8 years loan..So far only used for weekends drive or even long distance ride.My wife drive her trusty 2013 Proton Preve to work while i ride my Honda CB650 to work..So far clocked 18050km and i was impressed with the performance after the 2nd service using 10w-40 fully syn engine oil,New plugs and 40 points check.0-100kmh i get an average of below 10s but not to the 8.7s as stated..The first gear feel hold and the weight is not light either compared to Japs cars..Top speed i havent tried yet i once closed to 180kmh before my wife make noise as we have 7 on board..Overall i give 8/10 and the only complain i have is the steep pricing..5008 is RM21k less but with less gadgets.
