No, it’s not an April Fools’ joke. Startech will be looking to introduce its Range Rover-based pick-up truck at the upcoming 2015 Auto Shanghai this month. Billed as a “multi-purpose supercar”, the insipidly-named Startech Pickup is based on the flagship Range Rover which utilises a 5.0 litre supercharged V8 engine.
Torque rating remains at 625 Nm while horsepower gets bumped up to 526 courtesy of a new exhaust system, allowing the pick-up to go from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds while an electronically-limited top whack of 250 km/h is quoted. So while the mechanicals remain or less the same, the body of this particular Rangie, as you can see, has undergone quite the transformation.
Starting from the front, the Startech pick-up receives a reworked lower end that includes wider air intakes with LED daytime running lights positioned right below. Moving further back, massive 80 mm fender extensions come part and parcel of Startech’s wide bodykit. Within said fenders, 23-inch Startech Monostar S wheels are to be found, wrapped in 305/30 high-performance tyres.
At the rear, a completely reworked diffuser made from clear-coated carbon-fibre houses the quad exhaust outlets. The highlight of the transformation is, of course, the inclusion of a plastic-lined cargo bed. Requiring no less “than 100 (custom) bodywork components” made from aluminium, carbon-fibre and steel, the entire rear deck of the donor car has been rebuilt to accommodate the new C-pillars.
Despite the significant amount of reworking done, the Startech Pickup retains the panoramic roof of the donor Range Rover. Said cargo bed possesses a load length 1,100 mm with the tailgate closed while opening it adds on an additional 600 mm – perfect for, we kid you not on this one, transporting “a securely fastened cage that holds hunting falcons”.
Inside, the seats, dashboard and door panels are trimmed in black Startech quilted leather with contrasting red stitching. Elsewhere, the headliner is now swathed in Alcantara while carbon-fibre accents are to be found in place of the standard vehicle’s wood trim.

They just removed the roof in the rear, and the surrounding windows. Otherwise, its the same Rangie. Doesnt appear to be any significant addition to the rear overhang.
