A road-going Mercedes-AMG GT3-like prototype was recently spotted lapping the Nurburgring with a comprehensive aerodynamic package that included wider fenders and a massive front splitter. There are even winglets on the front fascia and the front wings. All of this points towards a Black Series type of treatment with wider tracks, but it’s widely known that a Black Series normally appears at the end of a product’s lifecycle.
The Mercedes-AMG GT was launched in 2014, and with the usual life cycle of seven or eight years, the fact that a prototype has been spotted means that it will go into production sooner rather than later. This could culminate in a road-going version of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 race car seen in Geneva this year.
There has been a series of reports that speculated that Mercedes-Benz trying to adopt multi-edition pathways akin to what Porsche does with its 911. It’s pretty obvious that this version of the AMG GT is aiming to directly hit the 911 GT3 and GT3 RS, but it will probably have a different designation.
It should be noted that after what Aston Martin had to go through with the renaming of its show-stopping Vantage GT3 to a GT12, Mercedes Benz might want to stay away from utilising the GT3 moniker that Porsche has laid claim to. Since this road-going version of this AMG GT race car will use the 4.0 litre V8 bi-turbo, horsepower figures are unlikely to creep past 550 hp.
As the V8 will probably use different specifications of turbines, along with a new carbon-fibre diet regimen, its handling and overall performance characteristics will probably result in an epic lap around the Nurburgring.

This might be me, but I think a car with this GT shape (like SLS, Aston Martin, Ferrari F12) is not so suitable with centre-mounted exhaust.
Would be more suitable with side-mounted like Viper or dual exhaust higher in rear bumper like the Ferrari 458 and new 488.
Just my personal opinion.
