Huanghai Plutus Caravan – one for the travellers

plutus caravan 1

Caravans aren’t exactly a common sight in these parts, so when something like the Huanghai Plutus Caravan pops up on local channels, it does grab one’s attention.

The vehicle is based on a Chinese-made Plutus pick-up, which has been around for a bit now – it’s marketed and sold by China Auto Manufacturers (CAM) based out in Klang, and in its base form is available in 4×2 and 4×4 double-cab versions.

The Plutus features a 2.8 litre TDi engine and a manual transmission, and standard equipment includes ABS and EBD, a single airbag, reverse sensors and 15-inch alloys.

The motorhome part of the equation adds on a whole host of fittings and equipment, and amenities include air-conditioning, a bathroom, solid wood built-in furniture, a single folding sofa bed, overhead double bed, sink and kitchenette.

The last features a fridge, induction cooker and range hood, and other items on the motorhome kit list include a 70 litre water tank, 40 litre slop tank, 10 metres of cabling for an external connection, a Fiamma F45 S caravan awning and a waterproof outdoor stereo.

There’s more, and the whole motorhome accessories list has no less than 47 items on it, making the Plutus Caravan quite a well equipped affair. If you fancy being completely self-reliant puttering across the country, this may be just the thing. How much then? RM204,699 (on-the-road complete with insurance) bags you one.

Yes no need to drive to office to work… just park it there. Pay the monthly parking pass. Should be cheaper than driving to work.

Company car should all convert to this cause its cheaper than booking a hotel during local company trip. It’s car + house allowance all in 1!

No way. It’s not in our motoring culture and there’s better thing to do than to sleep in that thing only to wake and relising you lose the tyres to thieving scumbag the next morning. Make a caravan camp site first.

  • Stuck in the 14 hours balik kampung traffic at Hari Raya? Pushed to sleeping near the toilet with no fan due to full house at Kampung? Unbearable toilet queue in the morning? Need an easy to setup covered stall to sell all that fruits gathered at Kampung after coming back to the city?

We have just the right Raya car for you!

It is an alternative to expensive apartments in Klang Valley. You don’t have to pay cukai pintu twice a year, Indah water, etc. As a bonus, you can take it on holidays and don’t need to book hotels. And yes, you can select your own spot too.
And after you retired the van, you park it at a space in your kampong, as a guest house.

  • I wonder what’s the idea of selling this here? In EU or even NZ and AU, there are motor parks; i.e. places for you to park your campervan and connect it to facilities like gas, electric and sewage.

So where are you going to connect the sewage discharge to? You cannot just simple … ‘buang’…

    Wrong chassis to use though.

Should have used the single cab, for more interior space withough additional lenght.

It is an entertaining idea for singles to use this one instead of a overpriced property here in KV.

I wonder which would be more costly, this one or a normal pickup with a hitched 5th wheel. Afterall, its going to be parked most of the time, must as well use the pickup as a daily driver.

Its not because of country. Its the weather. cold weather leading for caravan enthusiast find better spot during camping, and its very popular during summer and autumn season.
