SEAT Leon Cross Sport SUV sketched, Frankfurt debut

Seat Leon Cross Sport-01

After revealing plans to invest 3.3 billion euros and introduce four new vehicles in the next two years, including a new compact SUV next year, SEAT has confirmed the Leon Cross Sport concept for Frankfurt.

While there are no official details yet, the SUV has been revealed in two official sketches. Not much can be told about the vehicle except that it will be a three-door SUV, with a Leon Cupra face while styling cues from the rear onwards look similar to the 20V20 crossover concept that was unveiled at Geneva earlier this year.

The Cross Sport also seems to have borrowed some cues from the Leon X-perience– a blackened bumper with skid plates and darkened side skirts and of course a heightened suspension. SEAT says that the concept matches the brand “with its performance, dynamic design and crossover attitude and the urban lifestyle of its young spirited customers.”

Assumptions as to what will power the Leon Cross Sport points to a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 290 PS and 350 Nm of torque or, the same one in the 2016 Seat Leon Cupra 290 or a more powerful one that makes 300 PS and 380 Nm which is also said to feature a Haldex all-wheel drive layout.
