VIDEO: Monkeying around backstage with the Peugeot 308 GTi, “Push the Limits” production detailed

Remember that video of the 2016 Peugeot 308 GTi we featured not too long ago? If so, you might be interested in knowing more on how the crew managed to film cars going airborne, diving off buildings and, of course, handling the biggest diva on set – who’s not even human to begin with – in a matter of days.

The French carmaker has recently released a behind the scenes video of its “Push the Limits” feature detailing exactly how said crew did it. Shot over a period of three days, production was splintered into three core parts that zeroed in on the important plot points of the video. The first of which showed preparations for the chase sequence with the usual array of matte black chase cars and plenty of drone-assisted shots.

Day two saw the process of putting together the spectacular crash sequence whereby several cars were flipped over. Meanwhile, a quick cutaway sequence reveals the star of the show taking his own sweet time for some light reading, drinks at the hotel bar and even a bath. Finally, the third and final day of shooting involved stringing together the popular slapping scene.

Said scenario was revealed to be a metaphor for Peugeot giving its rival brands a tight slap across the face – a rather brave admission on the French carmaker’s half, we have to say. With that said, no one will be slapping anyone in Malaysia as Nasim has confirmed that the 250 hp hatch will not be launched here.
