Goo Warranty launched – provides 1-year/25,000 km powertrain coverage on certified used vehicles

Goo Warranty 1

Proto Malaysia, together with Car Credo Malaysia and Opal Auto Mart, has officially introduced Goo Warranty at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today. The aftermarket warranty scheme will provide used car buyers with powertrain coverage on vehicles certified by the Goo Kantei inspection service.

The warranty service, which will be available from January starting in the Klang Valley area, covers powertrain components including the engine, transmission, engine control unit (ECU) and transmission control unit (TCU) for up to 12 months or 25,000 km, whichever comes first. Private-registered vehicles up to eight years old with mileage of up to 100,000 km are eligible for the warranty.

To be entitled for the service, the vehicle will be sent to Goo Kantei, where an inspection covering a maximum of 344 points around the vehicle’s structure, bodywork and engine will be conducted. The results will be described on a form, and the car will be given certification along with a star rating based on its condition. The inspection is certified by the Japan Automobile Appraisal Association (JAAA).

Warranty claims will be serviced by Opal and its 124 authorised panel workshops nationwide, and the service, claims Proto Malaysia, is designed to be underwritten by a “well-established and reputable insurance company” for added financial stability.

    • Reality check. If it is your car in the workshop, what would you do? It has finiancial implication to the owner and insurance co.

I dont trust those warrenties to be frank.. Probably their fine print is too long n open to alot of interpretation… Be a wise consumer, get someone in the know how or a mechanic b4 u get any used car…. Get the right one n u will never buy a new car again!

Well no warranty companies in Boleh Land can cover engine oil burning problem, whether BMW, Audi,Merz even Porsche. No matter you have premium warranty ! The answer is no!!! Since warranty companies will never cover that under engine category! Anyway why they had stated engine is covered?… I believe piston ring or piston is outside of engine for them! And we be so ambitious to have one but they easily make money for those stuff! Give a try folks you will know better.

Instead of paying for the warranty, its better to save the money and use it for maintenence. When you buy opal warranty, you have to service from their authorized workshop which usually charge premium prices. The time taken for warranty claims are also very long. Not worth it

spiral binding cost RM1.20. I guess the document and printing cost is as much as the binding cost.

    Plastic covers are FOC.

  • looks gimmicky, it will say warranty covered but counter it with no coverage if wear and tear..a used car with problems, isnt it wear and tear?..means wont cover anything
