Previously, Jaguar Malaysia teased the arrival of the new Jaguar XF on its official Facebook page. While the earlier teaser focused on the design details found on the sedan, this new one shows us more of the car in its entirety. More importantly, its arrival date – April 26, 2016 – has also been revealed.
The posting gives us a frontal look at the XF’s slimmer LED headlamps along with the tail lamp clusters that resemble those on the smaller XE, which was launched in Malaysia recently. We are also provided a view of the car’s interior. Included is a link to a form where those piqued by the new sedan can register their interest.
As a recap, the second-generation XF was first introduced at last year’s New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), replacing the first-gen model that has been around since 2007. Boasting Jaguar Land Rover’s aluminium-intensive modular architecture – the second to be built on the platform after the XE – the new XF is lighter by as much as 190 kg compared to its predecessor.
Though the new car is shorter by 7 mm and 3 mm lower than before, the XF does gain in terms of wheelbase, now measuring 2,960 mm, a 51 mm increase. Additionally, the Jaguar XE’s exterior and interior looks serves to inspire a majority of the new XF’s styling.
Engine-wise, the XF is offered in a range of direct-injected petrol and Ingenium turbodiesel engines. Focusing on the petrol engines, the 2.0 litre turbocharged four-pot churns out 240 PS/340 Nm, while the larger 3.0 litre supercharged V6 provides either 340 PS/450 Nm or 380 PS/450 Nm.
As for the oil burners, the 2.0 litre powerplants are rated at either 163 PS/380 Nm or 179 PS/430 Nm. The previous 3.0 litre turbo V6 meanwhile, has been revised to now produce 300 PS/700 Nm.
The current XF in Malaysia is available in 2.0 Ti petrol (240 PS/340 Nm), 2.2 Td diesel (200 PS/450 Nm), 3.0 Td diesel (275 PS/600 Nm) and 3.0 SC supercharged petrol (340 PS/450 Nm) variants, priced from RM408,888 to RM623,888.
Yep and it will probably be priced about the same as a S400L or 730Li
was thinking just that… unrealistic fools…
no launch event like the XE? Really liked the XE event. Also had the chance to sit in the super rare Project 7 F-Type
Too bad they won’t sell many of those here. What a wasted opportunity.
