2017 BMW Motorrad F700 GS, F800 GS and F800 GS Adventure – Euro 4 compliant, now with ride modes

2017 BMW Motorrad F-Series GS Adventure - 3

With Euro 4 regulations coming into force in six months time, manufacturers are busy getting their model range into compliance. Some are issuing model updates, while others are culling models that would be expensive to bring into line.

For BMW Motorrad, its range of mid-range dual-purpose machines – the F700 GS, F800 Gs and F800 GS Adventure – have been made Euro 4 compliant for 2017, and have also received an update in the bikes’ electronics. Motorrad now offers the “baby” dual-purpose bikes with ride modes, four of them to be exact.

First of a raft of changes made to Motorrad’s F-series machines, the four modes – Rain, Road, Enduro and Enduro Pro – cater for individual rider preferences and road conditions. The ride-by-wire throttle has been worked on for improved response, and coupled with the new ride modes, gives the rider better control over the bike’s behaviour.

Both Rain and Road modes come standard on all the F-series bikes, while Enduro and Enduro Pro are ex-factory options only for the 800 GS bikes. The Enduro modes are intended for off-road use, while the F700 is meant more for road duties.

The instrument cluster has also been redesigned to improve clarity and legibility, and a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) – what the rest of us know as a “check engine” light – is now included as part of Euro 4 requirements. A new tailpipe end piece makes its appearance for 2017, and the optional HP sports exhaust by Akrapovic has also been reworked.

New paint options for the F700 GS and F800 GS are available in 2017, with each model getting three new colour schemes. The F800 GS Adventure makes do with two new paint schemes, but also gets new galvanised radiator trim, intake silencer cover and ignition lock casing.

Current pricing for the 2016 F700 GS is RM56,900, while the F800 GS goes for RM61,900. The top-of-the-range F800 GS Adventure retails for RM96,800. All prices include GST and road tax, but exclude insurance.

When is Malaysia going to make our cars and motor Euro 4 compliant as well? Why wait for regulations, car manufacturers and motor manufacturers as well as oil companies should be Euro 4 compliant asap ie immediately.

Shocking that even our Ron 95 will only be compliant only in 2020. That also comes, it will be extended to 2030!

Do we have to beg the Government for the right to breathe clean air?
