Bell & Ross joins forces with Renault F1 Team – limited edition BR-X1 RS16 Tourbillon for RM691k

In conjunction with the upcoming Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix, Bell & Ross together with Cortina Watch launched a “lifestyle pop-up store” at Level 1 Suria KLCC this week. The cocktail event to launch the store saw Bell & Ross, famous for its aviation inspired timepieces, showcase two limited edition watches.

Bell & Ross is the official watch partner of the Renault Sport Formula One Team, and with the F1 circus now on its annual tour of South East Asia, put the spotlight on its BR-X1 RS16 watches. Previously exclusively available at the paddock of selected GPs, the limited edition watches can now be found at the KLCC pop-up store.

The BR-X1 RS16 watches, named after the team’s 2016 R.S. 16 race machine, were envisioned as extreme versions of the watchmaker’s famous BR 01 model, just like how F1 cars are the ultimate race cars.

The BR-X1 RS16 Tourbillon (right) is a 20-unit limited edition priced at RM691k

The BR-X1 RS16 Skeleton Chronograph and BR-X1 RS16 Skeleton Chronograph Tourbillon feature a 45 mm multi-material case crafted from materials such as Grade 5 titanium and Carbone Forge, a composite material consisting of moulded compressed carbon fibres and thermosetting resin.

The light and strong pair sport yellow rubber accents on the crown and rocker push buttons, a nod to the team and official colour of Renault Sport. CF is also present on the rubber straps.

The BR-X1 RS16 is a limited edition of 250 pieces and is priced at RM102,500, while the BR-X1 RS16 Tourbillon, of which only 20 pieces exist in the world, is yours for RM691,000. The latter is powered by a calibre BR-CAL.283 hand-wound flying tourbillon movement with a four-day power reserve.

A meet and greet session with Renault F1 driver Kevin Magnussen will be held at the Bell & Ross KLCC pop-up store on September 28.

Generally, I do like Bell & Ross watches but I have to say, this one does look like a super over priced G-Shock! Its quite hideous to be honest.

  • The idea of spending so much money on a piece of gadget that is only good for time keeping is utterly silly. It doesn’t matter if it’s a status symbol or trend. Silly is silly. just because it’s super limited doesn’t mean a watch could cost 691k unless the whole thing is entirely diamond encrusted. Moreover, it’s not a match to any tux or formal wear. That thing is ugly.

Any rich man who have the slightest wit would know better than to strap a 691k on their wrist. and oh yes, the 102k watch also silly.

I think my RM90 Casio analogue wrist watch is better looking.

Good show off piece for the rich. They can say ‘This is one of the 20pcs only on earth’. With that money I rather buy the lots cheaper TW Steel VR46 watch (maybe can get 300 pcs),this one appreciate in price for sure.
