Aston Martin Vanquish S Volante – drop-top beauty

Aston Martin has revealed its latest masterpiece – the Vanquish S Volante – essentially the convertible version of the model it released back in November last year. Take a few seconds to soak in this beautiful automobile before we continue…

Like its coupe sibling, the Volante S continues to employ the services of the AM11 5.9 litre naturally-aspirated V12 (marketed as a 6.0 litre), which now provides 600 PS. All that power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed Touchtronic III automatic transmission, although Aston Martin did not revealed any performance figures.

However, it should be pretty similar to the coupe, which does the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.5 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 323 km/h. The British carmaker also retuned the car’s suspension setup to improve its handling while providing GT levels of comfort.

Other finishing details on the exterior include a set of 20-inch wheels and a carbon-fibre rear diffuser with quad exhausts. For those with a bit more money to spare, forged wheels, additional carbon-fibre components, painted brake calipers and other options are also available.

Inside the cabin, everything is as fancy as you’d expect from an Aston Martin – embroidered leather seats, satin accents, Alcantara and a 1000-watt Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 13-speaker audio system are among the standard equipment you’ll receive, with plenty of optional add-ons on offer.

The Vanquish S Volante could very well be the final entry to the Vanquish range before an all-new replacement is launched in the future, as part of Aston Martin’s revision of its entire vehicle line-up that started with the DB11. A fitting send-off, don’t you think?
