American Formula 1 team, Haas is back for another race season with its new car – the VF-17, which will be piloted by Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, the latter replacing Esteban Gutierrez.
The car’s new livery is carried over from last year’s VF-16, but with an update to the colour scheme. A majority of the new car’s body is now painted dark grey, with various accents of red, black, white and light grey.
Like most of the 2017 F1 cars on the grid, the VF-17 features a large fin as part of its new aerodynamic package. As it also follows the new rules, larger front and rear wings, wider tyres, and reshaped side pods are all part of the aggressive new look.
A Ferrari-sourced 062 engine powers the new Haas race car, where the 1.6 litre turbo unit is capable of spinning up to 15,000 rpm. Other parts from the Scuderia include the steering, transmission and cockpit instruments.
In Haas’ debut season last year, the team managed to accumulate 29 points, good for an eighth place finish in the World Constructors’ Championship ahead of Renault but just behind Toro Rosso-Ferrari.
