The Mercedes-Benz W213 E-Class has a fresh rival set to arrive in Malaysia very soon, judging from some reader images. Meanwhile, the latest E-Class arrived on our shores last year, bringing S-Class and C-Class design to the premium executive sedan, inside and out.
So far, three petrol engine options are available in the guises of the E 200, E 250 and E 300; they are each powered by the M274 DE 20 AL 2.0 litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 181 hp/300 Nm, 208 hp /350 Nm and 241 hp/370 Nm respectively; all are mated to a nine-speed automatic driving the rear wheels.
Starting from RM395,888 for the E 200, the first rung on the W213 E-Class ladder is already generously equipped; the widescreen cockpit features a pair of 12.3-inch displays, with 1,980 by 720 pixels each. The pair of screens are fitted with a single glass cover for a seamless, unified look.
Available driving assistance systems include Attention Assist, Crosswind Assist and Active Brake Assist, as well as Parking Pilot, which can park the car in parallel and perpendicular fashion; the package contains Active Parking Assist with rear cross-traffic alert.
A six-figure price tag nearly starting with a ‘4’ is doubtlessly hefty, however the E-Class is, objectively, highly accomplished, and is also a venerable symbol of success for many a professional or entrepreneur. Check out our walk-around video above, and also head over to CarBase.my for the full specifications list.

Beautiful car no doubt. The multibeam LED headlights makes the car distinctive on the road with those blue highlites

In 1986, Malaysian price for a CBU 100% German Mercedes 200 (W123) was RM57,000
30 years later, the same car Mercedes E200 (W213) jumps to RM400,000 (8 x JUMP)
In 1986, the UK price of a CBU Mercedes 200 was 23,000 pounds.
30 years later, the same higher model car Mercedes E250 (W213) jumps to 31,000 pounds (hardly 50%) jump.
You compare 50% jump in the UK but 800% jump in Malaysia
One can blame currency but currency alone won’t make price jump 8 fold. Also, who is to be blamed when currency drops? It is Central Bank that is sleeping.
Tax the rich so no problem
In 1986, W123 already end of life. W124 already on the way.
By the way, in 1990, 200E manual, lowest spec, already RM170k.
I still remembered.
Peugeot around RM70k. Honda Accord slightly cheaper around RM60k.
Jeep Cherokee cost RM90k.
In 1998, E280 (can’t remember Elegant or Avantgarde spec) CKD at the end of RM200k range. Almost RM300k.
No doubt a beautiful car
Buying car of buying ipads for 400k ? The rear looks dorky
Boring car. The design is the same for C, E, S Class. It is not as distinctive as a Perdana
The new widescreen across really looks weird. I think Merc could have done better.
I dont think so. Seeing it in person is so beautiful. It looks like it floats at night
Looks like bus screen
Hey mike! Welcome to paultan team! Well, here’s my comment. It was good for your first attempt. However, please don’t swallow your words while talking. Try to speak clearly and have some face expression to spice up your shows. You have such a good package to be a presenter. Physically fit and you are fluent in english. And please, next time, try choose outfit that suits with the car you review. Such as, wear suits for reviewing this merc! Anyway, all the best in future!
The outfit is okay larh. The typical e-class uncle driver also wear those shirt(if not worse)
Honestly the new ipad style intrument cluster is pure garbage. It looks freakishly cheap and would make your eyes sore after a long journey. Other than the cluster the rest of the car looks very classy.
Any driver assistance package? If none, then it’s a rip off for such a price.
Why the rear looks like old elantra?
I dashboard rattles can change whole one?
This car have no chance at all against the G30.
Want uber luxury n comfy ride? Look no further than the W213 E class. Want a modern functional cabin with class leading driving dynamics? Wait one more week to have your hands on the all new G30 5er. Both have good reviews overseas but the G30 is edging out among the rest which shows how serious BMW is to grab its crown back. Another underdog is the all new XF which looks very menacing on the road. U can leave out the A6 as it’s way too old to compete with the rest.
Volvo S90 > all
Uber comfy? you must not be so smart…dont be too biased my shallow friend
high price for average joe like me in malaysia. a car mercedes e200 that cost around MYR$400,000. I think those that earn range 600K – 1million per year (after tax) would be able to afford. those that earn lesser than that i think would suffer if to own this new car, imagine repayment for 10 to 15 years.
It’s a classy looking car and more cohesive than the new G30 5 Series. However, externally, the E Class looks exactly like a photocopy of the C Class but enlarged like by 20%. Which is not so nice if you drive the E Class. Good if you drive the C Class, cos people might think you drive the E Class.
on the road, it looks too much like c-class..not much premium now imho due to the shared look
