Subaru BRZ STI teased, set to make debut on June 8

We’ve been waiting a long time for an STI version of the Subaru BRZ, and it seems the wait won’t be for much longer. Recently, Subaru of America uploaded a teaser image of the upcoming car on its Instagram page, along with a June 8, 2017 launch date and #STI hashtag.

As you can see, the image is a shot of the car’s trunk lid with a wing attached to it. Said wing features the STI logo on the endplates and that’s about all Subaru is willing to show us, for now. However, earlier spyshots of a BRZ STI test mule reveal the exact same appendage seen here.

Along with that, we can also see a new front bumper, side skirts, new wheels, STI badging and larger exhaust outlets. It remains to be seen what improvements the STI-tuned BRZ will get over the standard car, but one should expect some performance gains to be part of the list.

This includes more power from the 2.0 litre D-4S direct-injected, naturally-aspirated flat-four engine. In the standard BRZ, the mill makes 205 hp and 214 Nm when fitted to a manual, while automatic variants get 200 hp and 205 Nm instead.

With more Power, it will mean more responsibility. A std Scubi BRZ with 200 plus HP is already Gud for drifting. With the extra HP/Torque, this will be a magnet for drifters. Just make sure they don’t use it on our roads.

TRD never made such claims. Do not post falsehood. You can be sued.
