Movie goers who managed to catch John Wick: Chapter 2 would have enjoyed the movie’s opening sequence, where Keanu Reeves “reclaims” his 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1. As it turns out, the actor was involved in many of the action shots and is revered as the best actor/driver in showbiz, according to the movie’s stunt coordinator, Darrin Prescott.
If you think Prescott is saying such things for the sake of it, think again. Prescott was previously a stunt double for actors such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Hugo Weaving, with a resume of more than 100 films. The action director has also worked on films such as Captain America: Civil War, the first John Wick, Drive, 2 Guns, and The Bourne Ultimatum (he won a Screen Actors Guild award for this).
With this in mind, Prescott certainly knows a thing or two when it comes to filming an action scene, and was certainly impressed by Reeves commitment to the role and training required for the movie. It also helps that Reeves has a passion for automobiles, and even has his own motorcycle company.
In this video clip by Vanity Fair, Prescott details the movie’s opening car chase, explaining how capable Reeves is behind the wheel (among many other things) as well as how car chases are filmed for the big screen.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Keanu, automobile stuntdriver since Speed.
This a joke.
No, it is not. You would be surprised how many actors that don’t dare or/and don’t have the skills to do their own stunts. Even franchises about cars such as Fast & Furious used tons of stunt drivers for those amazing-on-screen chase scenes.
Steve McQueen, Paul Newman and James Dean raced cars. Steve also raced motorcycles.
one (or two) of the best movies ever. period.
