With the new Honda Civic Type R set to go on sale in Japan on September 29, a bevy of accessories has been made available for the scalding hot hatch, for those looking to stand out from the pack – as if the bewildering array of spoilers, vents and wings on the standard car wasn’t enough for that.

The catalogue incorporates a gamut of exterior and interior addenda, beginning with a red grille garnish (gloss black on the standard car) that extends across the headlights. You’ll also be able to get black or red door mirror covers, yellow-tinted LED fog lights, door visors and 20-inch ten-spoke Modulo alloy wheels finished in the signature Championship White. The latter cost a whopping 270,000 yen (RM10,500) apiece.

Also available is a carbon fibre rear wing with a red twill weave, shaving around a kilogram off the standard piece. You can get the same material to adorn the dashboard, gearlever surround and door panel trims, too, along with red illumination on the centre console and in the door handles, door pockets and footwells.

Honda will also sell you a gearknob trimmed in red leather and black alumite which is claimed to offer a better grip, replacing the standard Type R aluminium ball. Type R-trimmed black-and-red carpets and illuminated door sill scuff plates complete the catalogue.

The Honda Civic Type R will be priced at 4,500,360 yen (RM174,300) in Japan. Closer to home, Honda Malaysia has yet to confirm whether or not the car will be sold here, but it has brought us to Germany to test the latest scion of the legendary Type R family, and you can read our review here.
