For the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show (TMS), Nissan is set to reveal a new concept that “embodies the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility,” which is being teased in a video by the Japanese carmaker.
It was previously rumoured the TMS concept will be an electric SUV, and the vehicle we see here certainly looks the part (Faraday Future FF 91, anyone?). The large SUV features a flat-faced front that progresses to a rakish windscreen. There’s also illumination along the bonnet and the gentle slope of the roofline, but beyond that, everything else is shrouded in darkness.
Details about the concept are scarce for now, but it is expected to use a revised version of the new Leaf’s platform, albeit with a larger battery pack and more powerful electric motors. The electric powertrain covers one part of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision, which was announced at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
The other aspects of the vision include Intelligent Driving that includes technologies like ProPILOT autonomous driving. In the video, we see a digital signboard that reads “Autonomous Drive Recommended,” and should expect the concept to showcase such features.
Lastly, Intelligent Integration focuses on how cars integrate into society, with the concept being able to connect to social infrastructure such as road, information and electric power networks via vehicle-to-X (V2X) technology.
