Did you watch our exclusive livestream of the new Perodua Myvi’s official launch yesterday evening? For those who were stuck in rush hour traffic, here a snippet of the livestream, where our suited Shah took viewers on a live walkaround of the third-generation hatchback. He had a crowd to dodge in the video, because the car was unveiled just moments before by minister of international trade and industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

The video shows you the three variants of the new Myvi that were on the launch stage – the 1.3 Premium X, 1.5 H (High) and 1.5 Advance. The Premium X is the higher of the two 1.3L variants, the other being the base Standard G. It’s powered by a 1.3 litre Dual VVT-i engine with 94 hp and 121 Nm, with the sole gearbox option of a four-speed automatic.

Equipment such as LED headlamps with auto off and follow-me-home functions, LED tail lamps, keyless entry and push start, digital air con controls with two memory settings, four airbags, ABS/EBD/VSC and seat belt reminder for all seats are standard from the base Standard G.

The Premium X adds on Eco Idle auto start-stop, hill start assist, fog lamps, front parking sensors, power-retractable side mirrors, Bluetooth, a USB charger integrated into the driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and phone controls and adjustable headrests for the rear seats.

Appearance wise, it gets chrome trim all around the body, and a mixture of chrome and silver trim inside (all black in the Standard G). The unit you see here is in the new Peppermint Green colour that’s exclusive to 1.3L variants.

Moving on, the 1.5 H and 1.5 Advance variants are powered by a Dual VVT-i 2NR engine that’s also found in the Toyota Avanza and Vios. Here, it has 102 hp and 136 Nm of torque, and is paired to the same 4AT gearbox. In addition to all the above kit, the 1.5L cars roll on 15-inch dual-tone alloys and come with six airbags and a built-in Touch n Go reader. Both have a front lip and side skirts in two-tone, a two-tone rear bumper and a rear spoiler.

Going for the top 1.5 Advance nets you leather, a touchscreen head unit with navigation and SmartLink, reverse camera and security window tint.

The big ticket item here is Advanced Safety Assist (ASA), which includes Pre-collision Warning, Pre-collision Braking (low-speed autonomous emergency braking), Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control functions via a stereo camera on the top of the windscreen. Full explanation of ASA and its functions here.

If you would like a more detailed walk-around tour, don’t worry – we’ll have a full video of the car very soon. Once you’re done watching, have a look at our launch report, spec-by-spec guide and first impressions review of the new Myvi.
