Honda Civic Red makes its debut at Thai Motor Expo

Over in Thailand, Honda has introduced the Civic Red at the Thailand International Motor Expo. The premiere at the exhibition, which begins tomorrow and runs until December 11, essentially introduces a new exterior colour for the tenth-gen FC fastback, in this case Rallye Red.

The shade is available for two of the four fastback variants sold in the Kingdom – the 1.8 EL and the Turbo RS, the latter being the vehicle in these pictures, identifiable by its particular five-spoke 17-inch wheel design. The Civic Red retains the model’s turbine-style 16-inch wheel in its 1.8 EL guise.

No mention of new kit, and so it looks like there are no revisions to the specifications and general equipment available for the car, which was launched in Thailand in March last year.

Likewise, mechanical revisions – it’s business as usual for the 1.8 litre i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, which offers 141 hp at 6,500 rpm and 174 Nm at 4,300 rpm, and the 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo engine, which puts out 173 hp at 5,500 rpm and 220 Nm between 1,700 and 5,500 rpm.

It’s subjective, at least they don’t stick with the conventional design. It’s a bold step to take.

It’s really subjective. Sales figure proven otherwise. For me its a gud looking car than most C segment out there. And the most complete one too. Maybe you got ‘special’ taste and opinion on car design.

They should just stick to their tested & trusted Championship White. In Japanese lingo, No one does the RED better than MAZDA. Only Ferrari does Red BEST.P

  • What type of paint on Nov 30, 2017 at 12:44 pm

If I am not mistaken, Rallye Red is a solid paint. Anyone can chip in on this? It’s a solid, metallic or pearl coating?

Actually I spotted one Red Civic in Glenmarie the other day. Doesn’t look like the owner painted/wrapped it as the car was bone stock. It was somewhat similar to Millano Red found on Jazz and CR-Z.

The Thailand factory has been offering the Rallye Red colour to the Australian market Civic sedan since it’s debut in 2016. So it’s not really a new colour.
