Govt plans Putrajaya integrated public transport hub

We already have KL Sentral and the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan in the Klang Valley – does Putrajaya need to have its own integrated public transport hub? Yes or no, the government is planning such a hub for the federal administrative capital.

According to a Bernama report, Federal Territories minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the plan would take into consideration the proposal to increase bus express services to Putrajaya from other parts of the Peninsula Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

“There is also the plan to review the proposed introduction of monorail and tram services in Putrajaya after this so that the residents here will choose public transport as a mode to move around. In its early days of establishment, Putrajaya had only about 15,000 residents but the number has now reached over 80,000. Therefore, several matters should be looked at again to improve the public transport system in Putrajaya,” he said.

Tengku Adnan, who is also the MP for Putrajaya, told reporters that he wished to see electric buses in operation there before 2025, adding that discussions would also be held to introduce a free bus service like Kuala Lumpur’s GOKL.

Earlier this month, DRB-Hicom Defence Technologies (Deftech) revealed the Putra NEDO EV bus. Malaysia’s first Super Quick Charge (SQC) electric vehicle comes with Japanese technology and is being manufactured by Deftech for Putrajaya Corporation. Some of the electric buses have been handed over and are already in service.
