It appears 2018 will be an interesting year for Boon Siew Honda, distributor of Honda Motorcycles in Malaysia, with the proposed release of 10 new motorcycle and scooter models. The new launches will take place over the course of 2018, and will include both large capacity motorcycles as well as kapchais and scooters.

Speaking to paultan.org, a source inside Boon Siew Honda confirmed a new addition to the Malaysian market will be the X-ADV adventure scooter. Carrying Honda Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT), the X-ADV’s engine displaces 745 cc and produces 54 hp at 6,250 rpm and 68 Nm of torque at 4,750 rpm from its two-cylinder, liquid-cooled power plant.

In addition to the impending launch of this adventure-styled super scooter, Boon Siew Honda will also be releasing the CBR1000RR superbike, possibly the base model, with the SP1 and SP2 versions on special order. This will be good news for fans of the “Rabbit”, as it is known locally, marking official confirmation that Boon Siew is serious about the Malaysian superbike market.

The CBR1000RR puts out 189 hp at 13,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque from its inline, four-cylinder mill. Power gets to the ground via a six-speed gearbox, and a full suite of riding aids is provided on this 189 kg (wet) superbike.

Recently launched at the Tokyo Motor Show in October this year, and shown at EICMA, the Honda Neo Sports Cafe might also be making its Malaysian debut in 2018 as the CB1000R+. The Neo Sports Cafe was rumoured to be making a market debut in 2019, and it appears Malaysian riders will be getting up close and personal at what might be Honda’s latest naked sports bike.

Last, but not least, our source has confirmed, with 99% certainty, that the Honda CRF1000L, also known as the Africa Twin, will be hitting the adventure bike market in Malaysia. As successor to the much-loved original Africa Twin XRV in 650 and 750 cc V-twin versions, the CRF1000L carries a parallel-twin displacing 998 cc, and producing 93 hp at 7,500 rpm and 98 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm.

Scheduled release for the motorcycles listed above is said to be the in the first quarter of 2018, with the other models to follow. No word on pricing as yet, but it should be noted that , the Honda CBR1000RR, X-Adv adventure scooter, CB1000R Neo Sports Cafe and CRF1000L Africa Twin are CBU models from Japan.

Not a failure, just a business purpose, coz they must clear their stock, so we must be alerted and bear in mind, they are just business dealers, not bike lovers….

My comment is not about high powered Honda motorcycles, but the low powered ones. I have been using 50cc and 70cc Hondas from the 60’s. My present one is a C70 from 1984. The previous C70 was stolen from my porch. I would suggest that Honda brings back the 50cc, 65cc and 70cc models as they are extremely durable and economical.
