PLUS closing Touch ‘n Go reload lanes for Christmas, New Year holidays, from December 22 to January 2

The Christmas and New Year holidays are almost upon us, and once again PLUS Malaysia has announced that it will be temporarily closing Touch ‘n Go reload lanes at the toll plazas of all of its highways, in a bid to reduce congestion during the festive season.

A total of 134 reload lanes will be closed to the public from December 22, 2017 to January 2, 2018, although those at the Bukit Kayu Hitam and Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (checkpoints to Thailand and Singapore respectively) are not included in the closure and will continue to function as normal.

“On average, a top-up process can take up to three minutes per vehicle,” said chief operating officer Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi. “As such, the temporary closure is crucial to prevent long queues at toll plazas during the festive season.”

The highway concessionaire advised all users to ensure they have sufficient balance in their Touch ‘n Go or PLUSMiles cards before they enter the highway, adding that top-ups are available at 9,200 other locations such as ATM machines, 24-hour convenience stores and petrol stations.

“Highway users can also top up their cards at all petrol stations at all rest and service areas along the highway,” Zakaria added. “Based on our observations and studies [of previous such closures], the move was able to reduce traffic congestion at the toll plazas. That prompted us to continue the same approach this festive season and the upcoming festive season.”
