Genovation Cars went quiet after setting a new land speed record for all-electric road legal vehicles in March last year, but now, the maker of the Genovation eXtreme Electric (GXE) has announced that its fully-electric sports car – which is based on a Chevrolet Corvette – is set for its world debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next month.
The company says that the pre-production GXE that will be shown at the event will highlight the vehicle’s performance and sustainability. The former has seen some updates since the record-breaking run.
Back in 2016, the GXE’s all-electric powertrain’s output was said to be in the region of up to 700 hp and 813 Nm of torque, with an electric driving range of up to 210 km under normal driving conditions. Earlier this year, the power output rating was upped to past the 700 hp mark, and operating range had also increased to around 240 km.
The debutant next month will feature even more push – Genovation says that the series GXE will have 800 hp and 949 Nm in the way of output numbers, and performance figures include a century sprint time of under three seconds and a top speed that will exceed 354 km/h.
The GXE’s powertrain features a two-motor, single shaft layout configured in a dual-stack, paired with inverters that can power the twin motor to the maximum torque the car’s transmission can handle. The GXE will be available with either a seven-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Not much is mentioned about kit as yet, but the GXE looks like it will come with all the necessary mod-cons – there’s a large touchscreen will control everything from the audio system and air-conditioning to the car’s performance drive modes, for one.
