With the AMG 45 range of compact, high-performance Mercedes-Benz models pushing close to 400 hp, the German automaker has seen room for another model line to slot in just below. Seen here running winter tests following a previous sighting in December, the Mercedes-AMG A 35 further adds some subtlety to the AMG line-up.
Visually, the A 35 will be more subdued in comparison with its A 45 bigger brother, though the middling model will still be kitted out with larger wheels and tyres along with beefier brakes behind them, as well as a lower ride height and possibly unique suspension settings.
The key difference will be its powerplant, which remains a 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbo mill. It is tipped to use an uptuned M260 unit which, in M264 form makes up to 299 hp and 400 Nm in the latest E 350 Coupe and Cabriolet.
