BMW iX3 Concept to debut at Beijing Motor Show?

BMW’s upcoming all-electric SUV, the iX3, will reportedly make its debut in concept form at this year’s Beijing Motor Show. It was previously announced at the carmaker’s annual accounts press conference that the iX3 concept will be among a number of vehicles to debut this year. Others include the iNEXT and i4 (previewed by the i Vision Dynamics).

Based on spyshots of the iX3, the model appears to be based on the current G01 X3, although it will likely get several visual changes to set it apart as an electric only vehicle. So far, there are no details about the electric powertrain used in the iX3, nor is there any word on range and performance.

BMW is making a big push for electrified cars moving forward, and the iX3, iNEXT and i4 are just some of the models it has planned. “I have set clear goals for sustainable mobility: More than 140,000 electrified vehicles sold this year. A total of half a million electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids on the roads by the end of 2019,” said Harald Krüger, chairman of the board of management of BMW AG.y

The carmaker already owns trademarks from iX1 all through iX9, so there’s still plenty of space in its vehicle line-up. In total, Krüger said there will be, “25 electrified models, 12 of them pure electric, by 2025.”
