The Chevrolet Colorado High Country Storm isn’t a new model. We saw the range-topping facelifted pick-up truck at last year’s Bangkok Motor Show, but this High Country Storm, in the new Orange Crush hero colour, feels like a new “Raptor-style” special edition – that’s the power of the bright new paint.
Based on the top High Country version, the Storm is a Thai-only variant with a plenty of equipment and a more aggressive outlook. The latter is made up of a sport bar, 18-inch alloy wheels, door handles, a tailgate handle, outer belt moulding and a rear bumper with parking sensors all in black. There’s also a black hood decal with the High Country logo, Storm body decals and black wing mirror caps.
Convenience features include front park assist and a reverse camera, auto lights and wipers, and a Civic-style remote-start function. The truck also comes with the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Siri Eyes Free. Safety kit includes three airbags (dual front plus driver’s knee), ESC, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Besides Orange Crush, the Colorado High Country Storm is available in the also new Dark Shadow Metallic paint, and existing shades such as Blue Me Away, Pull Me Over Red, Black Meet Kettle Metallic, Summit White, Satin Steel Grey Metallic and Auburn Brown Metallic.
Chevrolet Thailand also recently made available a Thunder accessories pack that includes fender flares, black front/rear bowties, under rail bed liner, side steps, black grille, end gate decal, fuel cover and hood scoop. The Thunder pack is available separately from the High Country Storm package.
The rugged look that Chevy is going for is also seen on the facelifted Toyota Hilux Revo Rocco and the Ford Ranger Raptor, although the latter isn’t just all show – it’s a full-fledged Ford Performance product with higher performance, a matching price tag and seriously badass looks.
