2018 Honda X-ADV and CRF1000L Africa Twin pricing announced – RM61,478 and RM74,198 respectively

In conjunction with the Malaysian Autoshow 2018 at MAEPS, Serdang, Boon Siew Honda announced pricing for the 2018 Honda X-ADV adventure scooter and Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin adventure bike. The X-ADV is priced at RM61,748 with the special paint version at RM63,598.

The Africa Twin will retail for RM74,198, with the DCT gearbox version at RM80,558 and the Adventure Sports variant with large fuel tank at RM77,378, the DCT version going for RM83,738. All prices include GST but exclude road tax, insurance and registration.

It was previously announced the X-ADV would have a provisional pricing of below RM70,000, while the Africa Twin would priced at RM80,000. Both models are CBU Japan and will be sold through Honda’s Big Wing store network.

The Honda X-ADV is powered by a two-cylinder 745 cc power plant fed by Honda’s PGM-Fi, liquid-cooled and putting out 54 hp at 6,250 rpm and 68 Nm of torque at 4,750 rpm. The X-ADV uses a six-speed DCT gearbox to get power to the ground, controlled by a toggle switch on the left handlebar.

Weighing in at 238 kg, the X-ADV comes with a manually-adjustable windscreen, 21-litre under seat storage and keyless start. Fuel is carried in a 13-litre tank, and brush guards, sump guard and spoked wheels complete that adventure look.

As for the Africa Twin, a 998 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin with SOHC is used for power. Upgrades for 2018 include a new airbox and exhaust internals, lighter balancer shaft, air pump in the clutch housing, lithium-ion battery and ride-by-wire.

Two versions of the Africa Twin will be brought into Malaysia, the base model CRF1000L and the Adventure Sports with long-range fuel tank, both of which will have the standard six-speed gearbox as well as the DCT version as an option. Tipping the scales at 232 kg, with fuel carried in a 18-litre tank in standard, the Africa Twin now comes with four ride modes and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with seven settings.

Prices are exorbitant compared to the cost of living in Malaysia and the low pay packet most Malaysians receive.

Government of Malaysia should think about dropping GST on bikes and cars. After all, we have the most expensive bike and car prices in the world without the GST implemented. Now with GST, it is even higher!

    • Without GST, where would you think the Gov got money to gip BR1M? Gip research grant to UiTM? ‘Borrow’ money to Proton?

As long as the current Gov is in power, price will be the same

    • Being a cbu unit, the exhorbitant price is not just the gst. More than that it is the excessive import duties and excise duties. No PMs have made any effort to reduce them. Prior to gst was the sst. So the choice is yours.

Im a fan of this ADV. Been reviewing this bike for so long. In love with it. Plus box, it will be my ultimate touring scooter. But….Sad to say that i have to wait for a second hand one for me to afford such. Oh Malaysia.
