Nabil Jeffri appointed as Mercedes-AMG ambassador

Along with the launch of the locally-assembled Mercedes-AMG 43 models, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) also announced the appointment of Nabil Jeffri as Malaysia’s first face of the AMG brand.

“On behalf of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, it is our pleasure to have Malaysian racing driver, Nabil Jeffri as the face of the Mercedes-AMG brand, representing our new, locally-produced Mercedes-AMG C 43,” said Mark Raine, vice president of Sales & Marketing Passenger Cars at MBM.

“The sporty nature and high performance credentials of this latest locally-produced automobile from Mercedes-Benz fits perfectly with Nabil’s passion towards racing, while having the value perception of luxury and the comfort you would expect of any Mercedes-Benz vehicle. This, and all his accolades before and after, make him the perfect fit for a peerless automobile such as the Mercedes-AMG C 43,” he added.

Nabil first started go-karting at the age of five and proceeded to win the Asian Open Go-Kart Championship 2004 in the cadet category at the age of 10. He then became the youngest driver to join World Rotax Championship at the age of 11 in 2005, where he finished 14th from 47 drivers of 41 countries.

Back in Asia, Nabil won the Asian and Malaysian Rotax Max Challenge Junior Championships in 2008 and 2009, as well as finishing sixth out of 72 drivers from 60 countries at the Rotax Max World Finals 2009 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

Later in 2010, the then 16-year-old Nabil became the youngest test driver in Formula One history when Tan Sri Tony Fernandes offered him the chance to carry out an aerodynamic test for the Lotus Racing team, piloting the Lotus T127 on Duxford’s Imperial War Museum runway.

His career in racing continued with the JK Racing Asia Series, where he finished third in 2011, and second in 2012. This lead to him being selected the 2013 Petronas Talent Development Programme and a second place finish in the German Formula Three Championship under Team Eurointernational in 2014. In 2016, the then 22-year-old made his debut in the GP2 Series, and has been involved in the Asian Le Mans Series this year.

“I am thrilled to get behind the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG C 43. Having driven a multitude of high performance cars both on and off the track, I am truly impressed by the power of the 3.0-litre biturbo V6, the rapid gearshifts of the 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and the immense grip of the AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive. With all this dynamic ability, it still manages to serve as a comfortable luxury automobile when the situation calls for it. It’s no wonder why they call it the racetrack limousine,” said Nabil.
