SPIED: 992-generation Porsche 911 seen undisguised

A 992-generation Porsche 911 development unit has been spotted in the wild again, this time showing off its rear end. Here, we can see that the tail lamp assembly continues to be the full-width unit we’ve seen previously on the test mules, and it’s a look that will form the visual identity of the 992-generation car.

Under the skin, the 992 powertrain should remain largely as before, expected to employ the 3.0 litre turbocharged flat-six currently serving in mainstream versions of the facelifted 991-generation 911. In terms of driveline, rear- and all-wheel-drive layouts are expected to carry through to the new model, while both dual-clutch automatic and manual transmission options are expected to remain as well.

To recap, development cars for various versions of the 992-generation model have surfaced as well; a Cabriolet version has been spotted running trials, as have the Turbo (the actual one, with the capital ‘T’) and the GT3, which has been reported to move on from the naturally aspirated engine to turbocharging.

Meanwhile, the interior of the next 911 has been seen to draw upon the Cayenne and the Panamera in its dashboard architecture, while the steering wheel appears to be modelled after that of the Mission E/Taycan. Now, given that various versions of the 992 has been spotted running in public, the first Carrera variants are expected to make their debut sometime later this year.
