E3 Porsche Cayenne Turbo previewed at Pavilion KL

The E3 generation Porsche Cayenne was launched in Malaysia in July this year, with just two variants – Cayenne and Cayenne S – being made available. Now, Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) is previewing the more powerful Cayenne Turbo, which is sharing real estate with the newly launched 911 GT3 RS at Pavilion KL.

Just so we’re clear, this is merely a preview and not an official launch, so things like pricing will have to wait. As the Cayenne has a base price of RM745,000 (includes duties but excludes OTR fee, any options and insurance) and the Cayenne S starts from RM890,000, expect the Cayenne Turbo to cost more.

Motivation comes from a 4.0 litre biturbo V8 petrol engine that is 0.8 litres smaller than the Cayenne Turbo of the E2 generation. However, it makes a healthy 550 PS and 770 Nm of torque, with an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) active all-wheel drive system to match.

Performance-wise, the Cayenne Turbo will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, which is about a second faster than a Cayenne S (6.2 seconds for the base Cayenne). It also has the highest top speed compared to the current variants on sale at 286 km/h – the Cayenne S maxes out at 265 km/h (245 km/h for the base Cayenne).

Standard features include adaptive three-chamber air suspension for the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) with adaptive roof spoiler, 12.3-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system and the Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB) – we’ve detailed the last item during our time with the E3 Cayenne in S and Turbo guises.

The Cayenne Turbo stands out from lesser variants with a more imposing front end that places more emphasis on the front inlets. Additionally the four exhaust pipes at the back are more angular rather than the roundish quartet on the Cayenne S. SDAP aka Sime Darby GLC is one greedy company. Previously generation of Cayenne only started at RM530k in 2010. Today, it went up to RM745k. Ketuk rakyat a cool RM215k.

This is despite the German price remaining the same the past 7 years. The US Global price of the Cayenne also is the same as 2010 and 2018.

To make matters worse, our Ringgit is so much stronger now than 7 years ago. Double whammy. Ketuk rakyat maximum

Please read properly and improve on your English comprehension. John never mentions that Proton is great but the fact that this Cayenne dashboard really is horrendously outdated compared to X70.
