By now, we’re sure that you’ve seen the all-new F40 BMW 1 Series, which has been completely redesigned and now utilises a front-wheel drive platform for the very first time.
If you’re a fan of the new design, BMW is looking to increase your love for its new creation by showing off a range of optional M Performance Parts for the model. If your feelings are the opposite, maybe these components might change your mind?
Anyway, there’s a good selection of parts on offer for the five-door hatchback, starting with exterior bits like a lower splitter and aero flicks at the front, as well as a mesh design for the kidney grille that is similar to that on the range-topping M135i xDrive variant.
In other areas, customers can also specify side sill inserts, M Performance decals, specific LED puddle lamps and a more prominent rear spoiler. For those with an appetite for carbon-fibre, BMW also offers a new rear diffuser and exterior mirror caps made of the material.
If driving performance is more of a priority, there’s even a M Performance brake system with larger 18-inch discs clamped on by four-piston fixed calipers made of aluminium alloy. Meanwhile, the rear gets lighter discs and a single-piston floating caliper instead.
Complementing the optional brake upgrade are wheel sets in 18- and 19-inch sizes, where the latter includes the M Performance forged wheel Y-Spoke 554M in Jet Black matte, and the light alloy wheel Y-Spoke 711M in Ferric Grey. A larger option is the 19-inch M Performance light alloy wheel Double Spoke 555M in bicolour look.
As for the interior, the standard steering wheel can be swapped out for an M Performance unit with Alcantara-wrapped grip areas. The sporty steering wheel comes in two trim types – carbon-fibre/Alcantara and carbon-fibre leather – both with a red marker on the top middle.
For cars with an automatic transmission, there are carbon-fibre shift paddles, and to ensure the M Performance catalogue is filled out, velvet velour floor mats with the M colours are also available.
