BMW announces M Performance Parts for X3 M, X4 M

BMW has announced a new range of M Performance Parts for the newly-launched BMW X3 M and X4 M, further enhancing their visual appeal. To start, they each get specific carbon-fibre exterior components, of which were crafted elaborately by hand.

Items such as the radiator grille, air breathers and door sill finishers are made out of carbon-fibre, and of course they come with coloured M Performance overprint. The X3 M can be fitted with a roof edge spoiler in high-gloss black, whereas the X4 M gets exclusive gloss black rear fins. Completing the package is the M Performance motor racing lettering for the front, rear and side.

Elsewhere, there’s BMW LED door projectors (displays either M Performance or BMW M logo), and the cabin gets M Performance Pro carbon-fibre/Alcantara steering wheel and carbon-fibre shift paddles with integrated red symbols.

Also on are M Performance carbon-fibre trim elements for the gear selector knob (available in clear finish or high-gloss polish), as well as velvet velour floor mats with embroidered M Performance inscription. Accessories include an M Performance key case in Alcantara and carbon-fibre, and M Performance wheel bags (for transporting the alloy wheels).

To recap, the F97 BMW X3 M and F98 X4 M are powered by the new S58 3.0 litre twin-turbocharged straight-six. In stock form, the engine makes 480 hp at 6,250 rpm and 600 Nm of torque from 2,600 to 5,600 rpm, but in Competition guise it’s tuned to make a heady 510 hp.

This shaves a tenth of a second from the 100 km/h sprint (4.1 seconds), and with the optional M Driver’s Package selected it will reach a top speed of 285 km/h – five km/h up on the standard X3 M and X4 M. An eight-speed M Steptronic torque converter automatic gearbox with Drivelogic is standard.
