Fancy some of Munich’s latest, but even more sportiness is desired? BMW has released a range of M Performance parts for not one, but three models – the G21 3 Series Touring, the G16 8 Series Gran Coupe and the F48 X1. First up, the latest, long-roofed 3 Series.
The G21 3 Series Touring gets an exterior styling pack consisting of an M Performance side-mirror caps in carbon-fibre, an M Performance rear diffuser in either carbon-fibre or gloss black, an M Performance rear spoiler, M Performance side sill surrounds in Frozen Black and an M Performance front ornamental grille with ‘Iconic Glow’ – when the vehicle is locked and unlocked, the radiator grilles and front area will be illuminated.
Rolling stock is part of the M Performance catalogue too, where the G21 gets 20-inch M Performance light-alloy Styling 796 wheels, and these can also be had with M Performance wheel bags for protection when wheels are being transported or stored. A set of 18-inch M Performance brakes for the G21 are also available, here with red calipers to contrast against the matte black M Performance wheels.
Certainly, the sports theme continues inside the G21 cabin, where the M Performance steering wheels comes upholstered with Alcantara grip zones, a red marking strip at the 12 o’clock position and silver-grey, hand-sewn contrast stitching.
Fans of the black motorsport weave, rejoice, also featured here are M Performance carbon-fibre shift paddles, M Performance carbon-fibre steering wheel trim with Alcantara insert and the M Performance carbon-fibre interior trim pieces.
Further along, the M Performance gear lever knob also gets an Alcantara gaiter, while the knob itself has been redesigned for grip and illumination. Meanwhile, the M Performance kit also includes floor mats with decorative seams in contrasting colours, while stainless steel foot pedals and foot rest add to the sporty theme.
The G16 8 Series Gran Coupe also gets in on the black weave party, where the front and side ornamental grilles sport the exposed carbon-fibre look, while M Performance carbon-fibre mirror caps get several coats before polishing for distinctive, high-gloss look.
New footwear is also featured for the 8GC, where the sleek four-door gets two designs: a 20-inch M Performance forged multi-spoke 732 M design, in burnished and gloss-milled two-tone Night Gold, and the 20-inch M Performance 763 M in Frozen Gold with a milled M Performance inscription on the rim flange; this latter choice comes as a complete wheel set with sports tyres, according to BMW.
These, like for the G21 3 Series Touring above, can also be paired with M Performance wheel bags for storage and transport, and come with individual wheel markings. Also available for the G16 are a set of M Performance 19-inch brakes, featuring inner-vented and perforated discs in lightweight construction, and the four-piston front calipers are finished in red, and similarly weight-optimised.
The motorsport theme carries on within the 8 Series Gran Coupe’s cabin. Here, the M Performance steering wheel also gets Alcantara grip zones, a red 12 o’clock position marker and silver-grey cross-stitched seam. These can also be mated with M Performance carbon-fibre shift paddles, with carbon fabric instead of the standard chrome surface treatment.
The 8 Series Gran Coupe cabin also gets M Performance floor mats each with M performance inscription, while a leather-look surround with decorative seam in contrasting colours offer an even more premium look. The highlight of the driver’s footwell will be the stainless steel pedal rests and foot rest, which feature assymetrical, three-dimensional rubber profiles.
Also available are BMW LED door puddle lamp projectors, which replace the standard entry light setup. The slide-replaceable set includes three different M Performance logos which can be interchanged at will, while the Alcantara and carbon-fibre M Performance key holder offers another layer of protection for the key fob.
BMW’s most junios SAV entry, the F48 X1 has also been kitted out here. Like its larger siblings, the X1 gets carbon-fibre mirror covers, along with a gloss black M ornamental grille. Also included for the X1 is a set of 20-inch M Performance Styling 717 M wheels, weight-optimised via flowforming technology and finished in matte black. Also available are M Performance wheel bags for transport and storage.
Similarly, the F48 X1 interior can be treated to an M Performance steering wheel, with Alcantara grip zones and a red 12 o’clock central marker. Steering wheel trim elements are also available in carbon-fibre and Alcantara, or carbon-fibre and leather. Deeper within, the M Performance floor mats add to the sporting theme, and the X1 can also have the M Performance puddle lamp motif slide set.
To top it off, the X1 can also be optioned with an M Performance key holder for style and added protection for its key fob. There’s a bit of variety here – of these, which M Performance-kitted BMW takes your fancy?
