The Honda CR-V Mugen Limited Edition is now on sale in Malaysia, and as the name suggests, it will be a limited-run variant. The latest version of the popular SUV is capped at a total of 300 units, and is based on 1.5L Turbo 2WD variant. This is priced at RM152,900 for the Passion Red Pearl exterior colour, or RM153,300 if opting for White Orchid Pearl; prices are on-the-road without insurance.
You’ll remember that the CR-V Mugen Concept was displayed twice on our shores – first at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show, and then earlier this year at the 2019 Malaysia Autoshow. Whereas the latter iteration saw the CR-V Mugen Concept shod in 19-inch MDR aluminium wheels from Mugen, the model for sale here wears the 18-inch alloys as found on the standard vehicle.
As with the concepts, the CR-V Mugen gets body-coloured extensions beneath the front bumper, along the sides and beneath the rear bumper, while the front also gets a grille garnish and the rear gets an upper wing. As with the concepts, Mugen badging top off the CR-V’s latest clothes.
The Mugen add-ons for the limited edition CR-V are limited to its exterior, which still leaves a generous kit list inside nonetheless; black combination leather is paired with wood finish accent interior trim as standard on the Turbo 2WD variant, as are four-corner parking sensors and automatic wipers.
Standard equipment across the board and therefore also on this CR-V includes auto LED headlamps, DRLs and foglamps, smart keyless entry with push-button start ignition, full-colour LCD TFT instrumentation, paddle shifters, dual-zone air-conditioning and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features include six airbags, VSA and Agile Handling Assist, hill start assist, auto brake hold and rear Isofix mounts.
The 1.5 litre turbocharged mill is as found in the series production versions. In the case of the CR-V Mugen, the L15B7 turbocharged four-pot produces 193 PS at 5,600 rpm and 243 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 5,000 rpm, which drives the front wheels through an Earth Dreams continuously variable transmission (CVT).

(Like) Proton X70
(Dislike) Honda CRV
You cannot compare a China SUV and a proven Japanese SUV. The game changing Honda CRV have entered Gen-5 while Proton X70 is still new.
Well, we can certainly ‘compare’ the sale figure eh?
Its not game changing when its still there after 5th gen…thats stability and brand image. Its called game changing when it was caught the competitor with their pants down despite it being the supposedly inferior made in china cars…
Neh either cx5 or crv
Could you please stop this kind of silly kiddo things? What so proud of rebadging China car??
Bla bla bla bla X70 is still a lazy rebadge!
(Like): CX-5, Proton X70 (using actual gearbox)
(Dislike): CR-V, X-Trail etc. (weak CVT)
Don’t believe me? Try tow a car or ask Scotty Kilmer.
I agree 100%. There must be logic and reason why some big player are not into CVT. CVT just cant handle heavy load and high torque which all the character of modern vehicle. They are heavy as they are laden with all the acc and safety feature, the torque is high as its powered by puny turbocharged stressful engine.
Bodykit saja? HAHAHAHAHAHA
why do you buy mazda 3, if you can get honda crv..
Cx5…….
Engine not Type-R or Mugen tuned. Extra bodykit, extra weight (on already heavy car), and extra price tag.
Mugen oso playing shortcut nowdays…..apply bodykit without improving performance. In fact bodykit made the vehicle heavier.
In other words, all look but no go.
Just like a drag queen
I rather be seen in a CR-V rather than the unattractive apek-class china rebadge.
